Yes, but be careful not to inflate the pressure too high, because it will increase the chances of the tire bursting.

Increasing the pressure in the type means that the amount the tire deforms from your additional weight when riding the bike is less, therefore the contact area between the road and your tire is less and therefore friction is less and so faster.
However this is for road racing slick tires which are very narrow and where we run around 110 – 160 psi – I believe the same would be true for MTB tiers but to a lesser extent as you can not obtain the same tire pressures

Technically, yes. Although if you increase the tire pressure more than the recomended PSI you risk suffering the damages of the inevitable blow out. Then you have to deal with road rash or worse.

Yes, higher inflation equates to more speed but as the previous person said it is strongly advised that you do not exceed the recommended p.s.i. listed on your bicycle's tire. To do so could mean it might rupture, causing serious injury if you are riding it at the time of failure. Also as a side note, thinner tires equates to faster speeds as compared to thicker ones. The reason being is that the less surface area of the tire that's in contact with the ground the less friction there is between the tire and the ground and thus resulting in faster speeeds. Godspeed.

I believe so, but you should follow the tire pressure requirements as it may cause a blow out.

Theoretically, and in most cases, yes. However, there's a number of variables that need to be taken into consideration.

not really,,,,, because you would probably blow the tires,,,,,
pressure will increase as you increase speed,,,,, so its really something that shouldnt have to be done...... the right pressure is what you are needing, is all.
now,,,,if the tire pressure is low,,,,, it will slow you down.
