to have a heated debate back and forth with an atheist or anyone who doesnt believe in God? Would you go to a site that was for atheists when you know especially how they act on this site how defensive and sensitive they are about they're beliefs? So why do you think atheists come to a site full of people who believe in a 'god' not necessarily the one you believe in? but this is a spirituality forum. what is spiritual about an atheist? they believe in NUENTE! Thx! :)

I believe in discussing all faiths, not just the one I personally believe in. I would love to discuss atheism, but with someone who would actually discuss and not judge or ridicule my personal beliefs.

There have been a lot of posters who take it upon themselves and claim to be atheists, but actually give the true atheists a bad wrap by posting derogatory comments.

I am open to learning about as many different religions as I can, because even though I happen to be Catholic, that doesn't mean I think everyone else is wrong. Who knows, I may be wrong. Belief is a personal matter, which no two people no matter how well inrofrmed about their particular religion, will have 100% the same belief as the next person, even if that next person believes the exact same religion.

Good Question.

Yes I would want more info on atheism and/or any other faith/belief system, though its merely for my personal/academic interest (have no intention of preaching or converting anyone whatsoever)...

If only all of us (no matter what we believed or not believed) could just go and talk about stuff (anything) with poise and rationality...though chances are at the rate things are going there's a better chance of Osama bin Laden getting a sex-change than ending intolerance and hate here (from everyone from every religious/spiritual stripe)...

If they (theAtheists) do not want any discussion as they keep on saying end of discussion, then I really would suggets that they go to another site. I as Christian want some info as long it helps me shape me own self as a better person. I see nothing wrong from hearing their sides only if they do not insult me for what I believe in as I always do to them.. Both must have an open ended agreement to the process.

I don't think most Christians want to find out more about atheism. Christians are trying to help those who are looking to learn about the truth by sharing the good news of Christ. Atheists come to this site for a debate, for the spirit they carry is one of contention not of love, there for not one of Christ but of the adversary or the devil which ever you want to say.

If an atheist truly wanted to know why I believe what I believe, because they were interested in becoming a Christian--I would talk to them until I was out of breath. But I am not interested in getting in a heated debate just for the fight.

An atheist does not believe in the sterotypical interpersonal god of the "holy" books...this does not preclude the belief in SOME system....ethical secular humanism, gaia, deist, "spiritual" belief system....even wicca, witchcraft, mysticism...
there are many "spiritual" avenues that are not defined as theist...
the necessity of positing a "god" to justify a belief in the "spiritual " does not make it more valid than any other belief...

Well there are some Christians who would go to their site, but I don't believe I am one of them.
But I would gladly talk to them about their beliefs so I could try and better understand them. I don’t think God wants us to live in a bubble, I think he wants us to better understand those that don’t follow him. Maybe that way we can help them, or at least show that we are not all as arrogant as some of our fellow Christians are.

Um... I don't understand your question. Yes, I think there are many Christians who want information on Atheism, judging by the number of "What is an Atheist?" questions I see every day. And yes, I think some Christians want to debate, judging by the number of "Why do Atheists say this or that?" questions I see.

What point, exactly, are you trying to make here? Or do you have one?

Actually you will find quite a lot of zealous xitans over in the science section attempting to stir up some religious propaganda, but guess what, they dont stick around too long as they cant handle truth when it gets bombarded at them.

Actually I anwsered a question today from someone wanting to know what Athesim is, although unlike you she was polite about it.
