Why does it seem like there's always one person in our lives that kill us inside? That hurt us beyond repair. I know everyone says you become stronger, wiser, blah blah, but everytime I look at this person (which is every day because I have to work with them) I still feel defeated and deeply hurt and sad and depressed and lonely, etc.

Anyway, I guess what Im asking is how do I rise above this situation?

Sorry. Sounds painful and I can relate. That person is likely triggering a wound that has been there awhile. Try to understand what that might be. What is it exactly that they do that upsets you? How does it make you feel? And when in the past did you feel that same way?
If you ask these questions it may help you get to the root of the issue and your pain may not be from this person at work at all. Maybe it is an old wound that needs to heal. Then jerko at worko won't get to you.
Just for an example, say that this person behaves condescendingly toward you and makes you feel inept and childlike. Maybe in your past it was your mother who treated you this same way. When you were trying to learn new things and grow up she made you feel incompetent. That may be way off but you get the idea.
I hope you can resolve this and if the person is unbearable - maybe look for a different job. Life is too precious.

Believe me nothing is beyond repair in the world.Tell me do you really want to rise above the situation. The answer is there in your question itself.
"....everytime I look at this person (which is every day because I have to work with them) I still feel defeated and deeply hurt and sad and depressed and lonely, etc"......
The major problem being having to look at this person everyday. Some compromises have to be made in life to make the best out of situations.Have you heard about losing for winning ? Is finding a simliar dream job impossible...You have your answer to the problem in you.Left to you to accept it and move on.....

Try finding another job to help your healing. Dealing with him every day just tears a scab off an old wound and makes you continue to hurt. Is transferring or finding another job an option? If not, then just Pray to the Lord for his help and strength. HE can help you 'get over' this person. Nothing is impossible for him.

By not letting this person know that they are getting to you. Stand up and show this person you are better than them! Don't let them defeat you--you are a warrior!

Get a different job. You really shouldn't be subjecting yourself to these feelings every day, it's not healthy.
