I was told by a Christian:

We must worship God
But since we are impure, we cannot worship God directly so we should worship Jesus instead
But then later on he says Jesus is God.

Wow! Rewind please
Let’s review, he said we must worship God, but we cannot worship him directly so we should worship Jesus but later on he said Jesus is God.

So what does it mean?
We cannot worship Jesus as well because he is God and God cannot be worshiped directly.
But since we see that people do worship Jesus, concluding (according to Christian views) that Jesus must not be God as he is worshipped directly.

Wow lots of answers. Let's look at it from what the bible says, since you are asking a bible based questions.

Old Testament History: Before Christ the people could not worship Jehovah because he was holy and due to man's failure we are not and thus a payment must be made to bridge the gap of holiness. Hence the old testament has high priests and the sacrificing of animals.

New Testament: Jesus is the high priest and the sacrifice. He is God and He is man. Thus bridging the gap between unholy and holy.

Through one man sin entered the world and through one man it was cleansed.

Now to the part of worshiping god through Jesus, kind of a catholic/Jewish take on that. A protestant take is that at the point of Jesus' death the divider between the Holy of Hollies and the place where lay men (and women) worshiped was torn thus saying you can now have access to God. The price of missing the mark has been paid I want you to fellowship with me now.

And the question of Jesus being god or the sone of god is a cultural missunderstanding. In Ancient times a Son Co-ruled with a father so he was King and Son. In this Case Jesus was God and Son. But then this get's into the concept of trinity and that one was asked just recently as well.

First of all you are putting words in God's Mouth. You are saying Jesus isn't God so you worship Him instead. Jesus is always God and always will be. You can't worship God without God dying for your sins and then empowering you to worship Him. Believing in God who is Jesus is worshiping God. There is no difference as you claim. Get wisdom, get understanding brother and you will be saved forever. Believe in God who is Jesus. Get filled with God's Holy Spirit and speak in other tongues. Labatanataosh Saylatakalosh.

Who told you God cannot be worshipped directly? Since your foundation statement is in error, the rest of your statement is not logical.

God is a trinity. He is one being, but three distinct persons within that being: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. When we worship Jesus, we are worshipping God directly. God created us to worship Him directly. That's what we were always destined to do so saying that we can't do it is in error.

Here's the deal,we come to the Father(God)thru Jesus because He was our savior.Paul says"There is one mediator between God and man,and that is Christ Jesus"in other words because we give our lives to Jesus, when God looks at us he sees us thru the lens of Jesus and we are as pure as He is.But He is God the Son,it's the trinity thing 1 God 3 persons 1x1x1=1 God.not 1+1+1=3 separate Gods.

I am afraid this person was a bit mistaken. We can worship God directly, our sins are forgiven and God sees us positionally in Christ. We worship the full Godhead, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

as a christian, i believe the view of your friend to be inaccurate.

Jesus is the Son of God and we must accept Him to obtain salvation for our sins. that does not mean that we cannot worship God directly.

i pray to God, not Jesus, but i do close with "in Jesus' name, amen."

Jesus is the Physical Door, the visable truth by and through which our minds aproach and meet and understand our unseen Creater , our invisable God.
Jesus is not God He is The Door Way to God.
He is born in the likeness of God, and it is only through Him that man shall be saved. And God has said,"This is My Son in whom l am well pleased !. . . . "Ha Raaa"

Dont take one Christians word as what all Christians believe. I know where she is going with it and it would take a long time to explain what (I think) she means and you wont read it all....So suffice it to say that "If we Honor the Son we Honor the Father"

But if you are actually interested in how this works, contact me.

Jesus taught his disciples to pray to God the Father, the Lord's prayer. Where do you get that we cannot pray to God? You are confused.
