The sentence of death is extreme. Would they receive the death sentence if they did this same act in the US? Probably not, more likely life in prison. They are going to be sacrificed to appease the Iraqi government.
They (Iraqi people) murder people (each other) like crazy in Iraq, yet they are let out of prison, and most of them do not even have trials. I am here in Iraq and see how the "Iraqi" officials and even terrorists who are captured are set free. Punishment of these Soldiers by execution is wrong - unless we equally punish the Iraqi criminals.
Also - Saddam Hussein who murdered hundreds of thousands of people is getting better treatment than these Soldiers... hell, many Iraqi's want him to be set free. So explain that one?
These Soldiers are victims of a show trial. Give them life in prison, but execution is not warranted.

There are many crimes punishable by death in the military. If they did what they are accused of they should pay the price, if they were ordered to do it their commander should pay. I fought in the first war in 1990-91 and have many friends in this one, a soldier has a job to do and strict very strict rules to follow and killing Innocent people are not a part of that. No matter if the are wearing a rag or not.

It was only recommended that they are eligible for the death penalty if convicted of the crime. This is the same as the civilian legal system deciding whether the crime meets the criteria needed to persue the death penalty. As of now tyhey haven't been tried or even brought back to the United States for trial. If they are guilty of the crime they are accused, they should pay the price.

if they didn't want the soldiers to kill people, why did they train to them to use those weapons and then set them down in a war torn country? I think the army needs to stop screwing people up!! They should send some of those hire ups over there, let them take off their ties and put on a pair of boots and walk around the middle of that for a week and then make their decision.

Individuals should be tried for their crimes.
These people went through a trial, and were found guilty. The federal sentencing guidelines were imposed based on the factual determination of the jury (board) and sentence imposed.
They have the right to appeal the decision. That's the way the legal system works.

you're entitled on your view element. and that i agree that that there has been profiteering to a pair amplify in Iraq....as in all wars. you're able to study Viet Nam and Bell Helicopter for one. yet until you have actually been in Iraq and have seen the vast operations required by the civilian workers...the two contractors and DoD workers...your view would be limited to purely 2nd hand and memories and records comments that isn't present all the actuality....undesirable information sells. And definite, i'm a former US military officer. and that i recently decrease back from 18 months in Iraq as a contractor...yet no longer for any of the companies you suggested. you should be surprised at what proportion companies grant amenities in Iraq for our troops. And maximum human beings paintings 10-12 hour a week 7 days a week. And definite, contractors (and not purely risk-free practices workers) have died in Iraq...yet we settle for that as area of the deal.

Soldiers who murder the innocent are murderers, no less so than if they were civilians. My husband is an Army Officer. He expects his men and women to behave with the highest moral fibre and decency. If they did not they would face the consequences metered out.

They better be darn sure that their superiors didn't in fact order them to shoot any one of "terrorist age". It wouldn't surprise me a bit if that order did in fact be given. It would be a shame if three troops were put to death for following orders.

That has been the traditional punishment for those crimes. It is a necessary thing to do.
