I wish I knew. I live this everyday with someone close and it totally befuddles me how people who claim to be following the word of a loving God can be so hateful towards others. It really does, and one of the reasons I stay away from regularly going to church.

It has always seemed to me that the people who are so judgemental and hateful are usually the ones who are the biggest sinners of all. They are projecting their hatefulness onto someone else because they are NEVER wrong in their own eyes. It is easier to pass out the bitter medicine than to take it yourself. Being a Christian has nothing to do with it. I think professing to be a Christian makes them feel it is okay to do and say the sinful things they do.

the same reason why your neigbor or your boss are hateful and judgemental sometimes.
Christians are humans the same as you, which means we are not all saints.
I bet if you looked at Athiests, Jews, Muslims, Busidst....any religion, you could ask the same question.
Crhistians have been subjected to cruel comments because of their views and beliefs lately. The real question should be, why are there people who feel the need to force their beliefs on Christians? Such as some of the athiests who frequesnt this forum.

Sometimes those who speak the Truth in love are wrongly accused of being judgmental and hateful. The ones who falsely accuse the Christians are the ones who are judgmental and hateful. Sometimes some Christians get in the flesh and act hateful. It is a matter of sin in this case.

People are people whether or not they are Christian or not.
I've been a Christian the better part of my life and I have never seen or read in this case of any Christian doing or saying what you have said.
Perhaps the people that you speak of were not Christians but said they were.
A Christian is a person that has God living inside them. God does not have anything to do with them that you describe.
You judge a tree by its fruit.><>

It's a human thing to be. There are people like this of all faiths, it's not exclusive to Christians.
My best friend is very Christian and I'm, well I don't even know what I am, and I know sometimes when she is doing things that I feel like contradict her faith I tend to want to call her on it. I don't know why I expect her to be any more perfect than I am. I guess I'm just being judgmental myself.

For the same reason that some nonChristians can be the same way. Because we get into our human mode and forget to walk in love. What's the excuse of people who are nonChristians as to why they are so judgmental and hateful sometimes?

The same reason why most people are judgmental and hateful sometimes. Human beings aren't perfect. People make bad choices.

Unfortunately, even when a person is a Christian, he or she still commits sin. Hopefully, as we grow in Christ, we will be more aware of our sins, repent of them, and not be drawn to commit those sins again. But until we get to heaven, we still do things that are evil at times.
