I would like to homeschool my daughter who is age 6 and going into first grade. How do I go about doing this and can I when she needs special education services like a speech and language teacher? THANKS FOR YOUR HELP AHEAD OF TIME!

Contact a local homeschooling support group for more information. Try here:

Also try searching for homeschooling speech therapy. You might be able to find some support or even resources you can use at home. I know some parents choose to pay for private services to avoid complications with school boards, where services are offered.

Here's a really good link:

Pay no attention to those who worship school teachers, although I have to admit that I would not have minded being worshipped when I was teaching in schools. ;)

If you are determined to learn everything you can to help your daughter and to seek out every support you can, you can homeschool her. There are many people who homeschool their special needs children and being able to give a child with difficulties constant one-on-one can help speed up therapy. Make sure you learn all you can about how to help her at home.

If you find it's too overwhelming, then you know there are other schooling options than homeschooling.

Why do you want to home school your daughter anyway? I'm getting so sick of this. You think you can do better than highly trained teachers who provide free education as well as all the services your daughter could possibly need to improve her speech and language skills??? And all of that for free? Your daughter will be MUCH BETTER OFF in a school setting, where she will be free to experience other kids her age, other professionally trained adults who will help her, and make new friends. You think you can do better than that? I say, send your kid to school where she belongs.
