For the person who said Jesus was God, and then my "idol worship" comments at the bottom:
If Jesus (Acutally it was Yeshua short for Yahoshua, which translates into Joshua-- it was changed to Jesus after several transliterations from the original texts) was God, then how did he "sit at the right hand of God" and how did God "breathe the spirit into him"?
Here are some for you to ponder:
"But this man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God" (Hebrews 10:12 KJV)
And:
"The Lord Jesus, after He had spoken to them, was taken up to heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God." (Mark 16:19)
So it seems that God was already up in heaven, and "Jesus" went up to "sitteth on the right hand of God".
And we can not forget:
"But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God." (Act 7:55-56 KJV)
So tell me, how does one sit at the right hand of someone whom he already is?
Next, Jesus says to his deciples:
""'Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high'" (Luke 24:49)
So why would he not say "I send you this promise" instead of specifically stating "the Promise of My Father"?
Those are examples that refute the claim that Jesus is God, all one in the same.
Now about Idol worship:
Is the Pope God? Of course not, he was a mere mortal, born and raised and studied God's Word. He raised to the point where he was APPOINTED Pope (by the Bishops). But people still worship the Pope. Why is that? Because they feel he is the CLOSEST THING TO GOD.
Likewise:
"And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, ‘Truly you are the Son of God.’” (Matthew 14:32-33) To this day, many religious holy men are worshipped by people. So that is why they worshipped Jesus, even though he was not God.
One more point I would like to make:
"Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments." (Exodus 20:4-6)
Graven is defined as:
adj 1: cut into a desired shape; "graven images"; "sculptured representations" (dictionary.com)
So God himself Commands us to "not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them"
Yet people have sculptured "Graven Images" of Jesus who is "in heaven above". So everyone with a crucifix or sculpture of Jesus is breaking that Commandment, I guess.

An idol who is a good example to someone, a hero or similar, is part of life, and nothing wrong with having such an idol .
Some moms and dads are idols to children, and that's how it should be.
Seeing that Jesus is not a person, but a body of people, we worship each other, and thereby worship God, who is not a person either, but a spiritual power.

God is Jesus and no Idol. A better question is how do you justify not worshiping God who is Jesus? The world likes to create a make believe god to satisfy their lifestyle. Don't fall prey to the make believe god called idols.

True believers in God know that they have to stay clear of idols-- idols that represent something to worship or bow down to....for that is an abomination to God!
Although believers as well as non-believers are guilty of idol worship or idolatry, in the sense that idolatry perse does not necessitate any material image or even any religious or belief system, for an idol can be anything that takes the place of God: like the one habit you can't kick, your fancy car, your job, your moolah, your body, or anyone you idolize, meaning anything that controls you...is your god.

Jesus is God. An idol is an image of a created thing that is worshiped or it could be money or fame or anything that you devote your self to instead of God.

I am intrested as well. But I will aslo try to provide an answer. They can't. Much like they can't explain the inconsistantcy *sic* in the bible. It is something that while it is said do not worship graven images they don't care. Just like it says love thy neighbor. But they started wars based on belives. Ned Flanders said it best when he said "I've done everything it says in the Bible, even the things that contradict the other things.

True Christians do not worship any idols, or any other being except God. God is not Jesus. Jesus is His son. God's name is Jehovah.

It's pretty similar to the way Muslims face a building that holds a sacred rock, or how they think that kissing the rock somehow gives them a blessing. Idolatry is when you actually worship a physical object as if it were a living god.
Facing a cross when you pray or having a picture of Jesus does not constitute idolatry, no matter what your imam says.
Peace, Mr. Muslim

I've never bowed knee nor prayed to a idol (nor wooden or stone) figure of anyone. As for that diabolical image Catholics bend knee too - there is NO KNOWN ARTWORK or Sculptures of Jesus.
Jesus was not vain - and painting/portraits/sculptures of one's self are a matter of vanity. Not all people who call themselves Christian bow or pray to these things.
