Everybody is titled to an opinion, here's mine:
According to scientists and historians, there have been several people ever since recorded time that have said the world was going to come to an end. They all had evidence and facts that correlated with their time that made hundreds of people think that everything they said made "real" sense. Centuries passed by and a lot of people were disillusioned. What does this all mean?
It means that there is a really high probability that your evidence and facts are going to end up in the same pile of history that has happened in the past. It might all make sense, but it did back then and nothing happened.
There are obvious reasons why it is easier to start a revolution about when christ is going to come back. With technology at everybody's fingertips, it's easier to gather data that "makes sense" so that your evidence makes people think that you're right.
