The phrase "made her" and "took her" seems like using force on a child.
Was it the families church, or just any church in the city?
Did reading the bible result in any bodily or mental injury?
Probably not - if read without proper forthought - it's just a book, like at the library; unless the menaing is taught about what the bible IS.

I'd be more concerned if he made her read Cosmo, though by the time she's old enough to read either, he probably should lighten up a bit. I'd need to know more of his reasoning to say.

Not abuse - but a proper parent who is raising his child with proper morals and guidance. If he did not, his religious belief would be a pure joke.

It isnt something all Christians do for sure, but what do you mean by "made her" was she highly unwilling and he forced her? Then yes its abuse.
