I would venture to say, their are control issues and the people want to be right instead of learning about how to change their obsession with the need to make a point when it is not an issue of importance. A person can not make another happy nor content if they are not feeling that way about theirselves. There is a book called "The Two Step" witten by Eileen McCann, it is easy readind, makes sense and is about the Dance we do with eac other, games we play, while trying to hide what we want, how we step around the issues of power. Good Luck! Ps, I just realized this is not about male , female relationships, however you can let her know, when she starts being abusive you do not have to tolerate it, if you continue you are giving her what she wants and that is your own power, tell her your boundries are ............. and you stand by them until she can talk to you properly, do not blame nor put her down, just it makes you feel such and such, and you refuse to allow yourself to to feel this way. USE I STATEMENTS, I DO NOT WANT TO FEEL BAD, SO I NEED YOU TO HEAR WHAT I AM SAYING TO YOU,I DO WANT US TO HAVE A RELATIONSHIP one that is positive and loving not hurtful, so when I feel hurt or our conversation becomes verbally abusive, I AM GOING TO SAY it is time for me to hang up and then do it, if she continues to call right after just do not answer, leave out the other members in family, maybe she needs help and you could offer to go with her to see a professional!

Because the issue is more then fighting over stupid stuff, she very angry at something or someone and she is taking out on you. Tell her if you can't talk to me without getting angry then we just can't talk.
