My boyfriends daughter is 4 years old. She lives with her mom and 11 other people. Her mom is dating my boyfriends brother and they are living with the brothers wife and her boyfriend. Basically my b/f's brother is seperated with his wife. But they still live together and both have a b/f g/f. anyway there is 7 kids and 5 adults in one house. Is this healthy? She comes over alot and they haven't fed her or bathed her. She has to sleep in the living room on a futon with her mom. At our place she has a huge room tons of cloths and alot more. I know its not all about the material stuff but this poor girl is filthy and her mom makes her dress like a bum. Should we atempt to bring this to court for custody? Even though the court system is all about the mom?

We have called protective services and they said that they can't discriminate poor against poor people. I dont' understand because she isn't fed or bathed. Is this right? My boyfriend lives with me and we have been in the same place for over a year. I have 2 children and one is with him. This poor girl is so confused I want to get her out before its to late. I need advice!!!

We pick her up usually around noon. She still hasn't eaten and is dirty. Dad wants to step up to the plate but everytime he does she refuses to let him see his daughter and the law in michigan states that the mother has complete custody until proven to be an unfit mother. He loves his daughter and would do anything for her. If he persuse this and looses he might not see her agian. We are stuck and dont' know what to do.

Yikes, sticky situation. You could go through a custody thingy with the mom. But being as you and your bf aren't married....depends on the judge. The law will want to side with whatever is in the best interests of the child. If you can prove that you are able to provide a more stable home environment, which it sounds like you are, you may be able to.
A more diplomatic way would be to see if your boyfriend could get a bigger split of the custody, until his ex has a more appropriate living situation. This way it doesn't look like you're trying to take her away from the mother...it just looks like the mother needs to take some time to get her stuff together.
Is she in preschool? You can argue that you want to put her into a nice preschool close to your house. This would be in the child's best interests.
Good luck to you...

If her father cares anything about her, he will first discuss his concerns with her mother and then retain an attorney to ask for physical custody. Does she say she is hungry and isn't being fed or does she come over in between meals? Either way, dad needs to step up to the plate.

Well there is certainly enough people living in the house that they should be able to take care of the girl and bathe her. I would say go ahead and try to fight for custody get pictures of her living environment so that you will have evidence that might be able to hold up in court

first call child services and tell them about the conditions, next have boyfriend file for full coustody and have him supeona the case worker from child services, If child services takes the lil girl out of the home she is in....more than likely they will place her with her dad till a hearing is held.. one porblem do i understand that the dad lives in that house too. if so and he wants coustody he needs to get a place of his own or with you.

Well did you tell social services that she wasn't bathed or fed there? You should bring this to court. You have to.

As long as the child is being watched, fed, and is not abused, the courts will probably not do anything about it.
