I have given you a thumbs up for a quality question.
Lets see if I have any incite that may help you.

Every first born child in all the land of Egypt was brought under this plague. This also included animals.

We all know that when God does anything, He has motive and a great understanding into the future that we cannot even conceive.

Another answerer to your question stated that hell before Christ is the garbage pit where the worms die not.

So, God must have some other place for souls to wait for the Saviour Jesus Christ. Remember that while Jesus Christ lay in the grave after the Kenites had Him crucified His Spirit went to this place to proclaim the Good News. Many there accepted Him and were allowed to cross over to Paradise.

No soul is in what the world calls hell at this time. After the White Throne Judgment then the souls that did not have their names written in the Lambs Book of Life from the Foundation of this world age will follow Satan and his into the Lake of Fire.><>

as i understand it, the persons of the old testament, had no choice but to follow God. if the did not, they were condemned.

hmmm! follow God, the Creator of all Life, or burn in hell for all eternity? not really a tough decision is it.

however, i imagine that they were treated as anyother child or person who never heard of God and were never given the opportunity to seek His forgiveness or to learn His laws.

No. Before Jesus was crucified, no human soul went to heaven. By Jesus dying for the sins of the world, he unlocked the gates of heaven, and those that died before him were released from hell.

Again, it goes back to whether they were good or bad which decides if they are damned or not.

No one is in Hell yet... not until the 2nd resurrection. We dont know how God will judge them and its not a good idea to speculate.

Very doubtful!

I would expect they were never given a choice to
follow the TRUE GOD.

The hell spoken of in the bible translates to "grave."
The only way not to go is not to die...
