That is so sad!!! Why discriminate against someone just because they have a deadly disease? They can protect themselves and could have helped the young woman better than that!! I'm glad that here in America we have people who are educated and trained on handling situations such as that I just read about!

The issue in that article lies soley with medical staff not fully understanding how to properly treat HIV infected patients not abortion. This woman could have needed a simple surgical procedure and the same doctors would have refused treatment due to her HIV status, and most likely she will be turned away along with HIV positive men for any and all treatment that may involve blood contact.

The pill to abort at such a late stage was incidental and again attritubtive to the lack of proper knowledge.

This has nothing to do with choice!
If you'd bother READING the article, you'd see that "... doctors at a state-run hospital in Kolkata refused to treat her because of her infection" (HIV-positive).

So no, I don't see anything about having a choice, but I do see how people like to twist and turn things to make it seem like more than it is!

I don't even know what to say! That's got to be the most horrible thing I've ever heard. I am so thankful to live in a country where my right to choose is respected....at least for now.

How sad that this actually does happen but it is through ignorance not knowledge that it happens... we need to pray that some how some way every one will get more knowledge on HIV...

that article wasnt really about choice, indian doctors will perform abortions. that article mostly about fear of AIDS, and discrimination because of it.
