In Genesis 1:27 it states clearly that God created Man and woman in his own image. Later on AFTER The seventh day he created adam from the dust. These are not A & E`s children since they came before A & E. These were the first men and women on the earth and they were not Adam and Eve and they were not the children of A & E so who were they. I was always taught that adam was the first man God created but the Bible says he is not. It doesnt say maybe or might have been it says he created Man and woman in his own likeness. Were they mindless cattle(Gods first try at man) perhaps like male and female monkey or tiger or butterfly? Why are we told that Adam was the first man to be created by God when there were other men AND women before him? I think it is a mistake made through countless interpretations of the bible but i dont know? Does anybody else?

Not to be rude but does anybody have a bible. If you look at Genosis 1:27 and then at Genosis 2:7 this is clearly two different events. Perhaps he created them so A & E`s kids would have somebody to date later on.

Well corky says that A & E were merely an allegory. well corky if we cant take the Bible at face value then i guess everyone could come up with there own interpretations. These are the words they mean what they mean man wasnt that clever back then. God told him what to right and he wrote it down. If thats not true then we might as weel throw the Bible out the window because it means nothing.

I do, but will you believe me when I tell you? Adam, was the first man taught the scriptures he was the first one held accountable for breaking the laws of the Creator because he was taught to keep them and he allowed the woman to get him to sin. He was not deceived, she being the weaker vessel was. The people that were here before them are the ones that their children Cain and Seth married to bring US to where we are today. They were not a mistake just another blood line. Melkizidek's blood line is not listed but he had to come from somewhere and someone had to teach him to keep the law so he could be the Priest that Father Abraham paid tithe to. I hope you can see what I'm saying, some can, some can't.

Genesis 1:27 is talking about Adam. Chapter 2 goes into more detail on the creation of Adam. 2:5 says "...there was no man to work the ground." If there already was a pre-Adam man made in the image of God, 2:5 wouldn't make any sense.

It's a very good question, no your not seeing things, let's review your first passage Genesis 1:27, this verse is talking about the spiritual part of the creation of Man and woman (meaning all that are born or will be born until the last man. The second one is about the Physical creation of Adam and Eve. Hopes this helps.

Gen 1 is an account of creation, Gen 2 is a detailed account of Adam and Eve.. the first man and woman... I dont know why this can happen in ANY other writing and be understood except the Bible.

Gen 1 covers the creation!
The creation includes the creation of the races.
What you thought that every 5 child born to a family was Chinese?
Gen 2 covers the creation of THE Adam and Eve, through which Christ would come.
And you were taught wrong, as most are!

If you want an exact, accurate story of Adam and Eve, get THE URANTIA BOOK, written by an angel who claims he was the one who spoke to Adam and Even in the Garden. The Adam and Even story was written as an allegory, and not literally as it really was.
The apple that Eve ate was just a symbol for sex and it was used that way in fairytales later on. I could say much, much more (and especially about the NEFILIM) but I don't think this is the place for doing that. Get the URANTIA BOOK (in the library) and it will answer many of your questions.

Exegetical studies will shed some light...
There are two "main" sources for the "creation" story
what are called :
The "E" source [for Elohim]
and the "J" source [for YHWH -the tetragametton]
the two different versions of the creation story were simply combined together in the compilation of the OT writings....there was no attempt to edit one or the other...or combine..or reach a synthesis of the two...so, there is really no self contradictions here....simply two different versions of the same story......
Why??? different groups had their own traditional view of how the beginning took place....so, in order not to offend one or the other...both were put in....
However....unless this is pointed out...it is easy to see where confusion can occur.

Maybe you just read it wrong...
Genesis 2:
15 The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. 16 And the LORD God commanded the man, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die."
18 The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him."
19 Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts of the field.
But for Adam [g] no suitable helper was found. 21 So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man's ribs [h] and closed up the place with flesh. 22 Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib [i] he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
23 The man said,
"This is now bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called 'woman, [j] '
for she was taken out of man."
24 For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.
25 The man and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.

Genesis 1 & 2 each give details of God putting into order the earth and life on it. They compliment each other - rather than contradict each other. God chose to have some of the details written down twice - with differnet wording. They still fit together.
God bless you.
