I have 2 hard drives I swap, both contain windows 98. I have purchased XP SP2 and installed on one, but can I also do the same legally on the second HD? I thought that It could only be used on one, but reading some questiosn and answers recently led me to believe otherwise.

IM asking because I dont want to create a hassle next time I go to check for updates.

Thanks in advance..

Direct from the Windows XP EULA

1.1 Installation and use. You may install, use, access, display and run one copy of the Software on a single computer, such as a workstation, terminal or other device ("Workstation Computer"). The Software may not be used by more than one processor at any one time on any single Workstation Computer.

So the answer is one.

Yes windows XP puts a security folder on your install drive which the update computer at microsoft looks for this contains a file called usr jurnl and is a protected folder when you go to update your usr jurnl will inform ms that your original install was on drive c: which is correct the drve d: will be logged as a slave
If you want to check this out on your computer do the following
open drive c: with windows explorer click on the tools menu folder options view select show hidden files and folders untick hide protected operating system files just below your recycle bin you will find a folder named system volume information this is the folder I refer to above you should also find the same folder on your other drive to now hope to have been of help to you

The Profestional version is extra safeguard. i think of they supply extra suited protection for those over the community and different issues (i'm uncertain what they are yet they make XP extra safeguard) and maximum companies use them for those motives. SP2 is provider p.c.. 2. it rather is an replace to domicile windows to make it extra safeguard. First got here Xp then SP1 and SP2 observed. Now, while you're informal consumer - like maximum folk you could carry on with domicile - its extra decrease priced. Thats all.
