what is belief? how do you manifest it? for you, what is the deepest form of belief and believing?

in the Bible, it was mentioned in Matthew, Mark, Luke and 2Peter: "This is my Son, of whom I am well pleased".

then in John, it states that
"for God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, does not perish but have everlasting life"

my questions are:
the term SON in the former verse, what does it encompass? Jesus also referred to children as Of God. that in welcoming them, you welcome the Father.

and in the latter verse, what does it mean to be Begotten?
Does BELIEVING elevate one to be a Messiah?
Where in the Bible did God proclaim that Jesus is the Messiah? that only through Him shall man be saved?

Aren't we all children of God, but Jesus was the closest one to perfection or was perfect thus He is/was "well-pleased"?

I do not get the necessity of having to do things in Jesus' name. i do not understand that part. No bashing please

Belief is a transitory thing. You may believe a person one day but their actions may cause you to NOT believe them the next day. Believe is what one does once they are persuaded. The problem is often young and inexperienced are persuaded without a true choice to believe a certian way. For example, most people born in Asia are born Buddhist, most people born in Latin America are Catholic, etc. Being raised to believe in a regional religion takes away a vital element of a true religios experience. One cannot truly believe as a follower, but can find true enlightenment and spirituality when he begins to "lead" his own mind and know what it really means to beleive.
As for the rest of your question, religion is always a touchy issue. I do not "believe" you would get an honest answer out of any one on here. We are not all at liberty to reveal our true religious convictions. The question you ask really depends on what you "believe". Remember we are all of MANY different religious backrounds on Y!A. If you push religion, it is going to end up causing debate and yes, bashing.

Believing is a personal thing, for you and I could believe in the exact same religion, but that belief would not be 100% exactly the same. You just have to feel belief, which is what you choose to live your life by.

As far as God proclaming Jesus as the messiah, That's where the prophets of the old testement come in, and of which were refered to in the New Testement.

When they say to do things in Jesus Name, basically it's by living by example. of which the easiest example to follow for everyone be it if the believe in God or not is the following:

Love one another as I have loved you

or simply

Treat others as you would like to be treated.

Believers and non believers alike can find some good advice in that saying. After all, if even 1/4 of the world followed that simple plan, then the wrld would not be in the horrible state is currently is in.

Hope that helped.

Jesus was the Son of God. God in human form. Perfect.
Begotten - Jesus was the only Son of God. The only offspring from God. Like you are the offspring of your parents.
No, you are not elevated to Messiah because you believe.
All thru the bible it is written that Jesus is the Messiah.
He was "well pleased" because Jesus fulfilled God's will or wishes.
In Jesus' name, means you are giving recognition to your savior. You are giving Him control of the situation or concern.

Think of Jesus as the 'door' or the conduit to God. No, believing does not elevate one to be the Messiah. Look in the Old Testament. Jesus became the bridge from the physical world on Earth to the heavens w/God. So it's through him - Jesus part of the trinity' - Father, Son, Holy Ghost that we are to be saved. Jesus was the earthly manifestation of God. If you do them in Jesus' name, you're in essence doing them in God's name.

And they asked him saying are you the son of god...and he replyed "ye say it". That was enough for them to seek to kill him because he claimed to be god. Belief is not a feeling. It is an intention to do something...Lord help my unbelief. He doesn't want us to believe "in" him as much as he wants us to believe what he says and do it. Reason with me, he says. Test the spirits. Whatever is good, that ye seek. Keep your brother. When we can give an answer(s) to how and why we believe then no one can take away what belongs to us. And through time we have a stronger, invisible but ever present, wisdom to rely on. If no one can prove god except by stories of miracles, then it is His wisdom that stands clear. First born or begotten, good study question. I also think doing and saying things "in Jesus name" sounds syrupy. He says that everytime we do good for one of the least of the children, we are doing it in His name. So, a speechless(dumb) person can shout loudly of the wisdom and glory of god by doing good things for people. Do you believe? Do something. Ask questions, Relate to LikeMinded people, Speak what you know of life. Encourage. And along the way won't you please acknowledge my god and talk directly to him wherever and however you are sitting standing or laying and do me a favor? Can you mention that ~daniel~ said Hi!?

We are children of God through adoption made available through the old covenant promise made to Abraham through his son Issac. We are "grafted into the vine." That is what makes the rest of us Children of God.

Jesus is THE SON of God. He was begotten, not made. He is of the same substance and equal to God the Father. He is God, the Son. The second divine person of the Holy Trinity. He was not "almost perfect"...He was perfect..without sin. He is God

This is a very good question. Just like everyone has personality traits, everyone has "gift" traits. Some people have the gift of music while others don't. Some have the gift of being able to do complex math problems while others are able to write novels. "Belief" is a gift. Some people, when they take these gift inventory tests, score very high on belief (my best friend scores highest in this category, and he is a very devout fundamental Christian), meaning they believe things beyond the shadow of a doubt and noone is going to sway them. Others, have a very weak gift of belief (like me, and I tend to believe that there are many paths to God, even though I consider myself a Christian), and they tend to want to keep asking questions in order to find a truth beyond the shadow of a doubt. It's not that either one is good or bad, it is just that we have different gifts. Once people realize this, the more they begin to celebrate our differences instead of being frustrated and arrogant because everyone doesn't think like they do.

To "believe" means to "be convinced something is true without proof". I don't rely upon blind beliefs. I prefer to "know", and that is much more difficult than to merely "believe". Scientific facts and Logic disprove the Bible. There is no geological evidence of a world flood, for example. I could continue a long time with this.

it means that through faith, we trust that God is the Creator and that Christ is the saviour.

Jeusus was talking about the fact that the children need to be allowed to come to God, for their prayer and communion with God and not to hinder them.

by naming the children as being "of God", Jesus affirms that God loves the children and will take care of them.
