his diabetic medicine. He is a retired firefighter up in New England and his wife states things are very tight and they are not always able to get his medication. My question is, does anyone know of any organization that might be able to help them? Another friend suggested calling Humana, but she had never heard of it, so I can only guess its not offered in her area. She said he doesn't qualify for medicaid, which, personally, if you are retired and disabled, you should qualify. Any & all suggestions will be appreciated.

humana is a health and hospital corp, first we need to know exactly what the medicine is, then you can call that one that montel williams advertises for, ppa i think it is , just keep watching tv or the montel show, or type ppa into a websearch. if the medicine they take is made by a name brand company they can appeal directly to the company for help. all of these things take time though. they also could call the county health nurse and ask for suggestions, and the senior citizens center, and any group in the area that helps dissabled people, actually the firefighters union should also be willing to help, even put an appeal in the newspaper or on the net or on phone poles, anything to get some notice, ask if you can put jars with his photo and need and collect a few bucks that way, it might make it so the plight gets noticed enough to bring him some help from someone who makes a difference, i wish you the very best.

Maybe check with the family doctor. I have heard that if you apply through your doctor and you qualify (depends on the income) that your doctor can get you some meds free from the drug companies. It would depend on the medicine and the drug company.
If that doesn't work, another route. Try calling the diabetes foundation and seeing if they may be able to help.????
Just thoughts.
Good luck

Try calling the drug manufacturers 800 number. Companies like Merck, Pfizer and others will help uninsured and other people no matter what their age or income. I don't know who manufactures diabetic medications , otherwise I would have given you the 800 numbers to call. Good luck

If he is a veteran of a military service he can get all his medicine free. My dad was a diabetic and he got all of it free from the VA.

Try Mexico or Canada, medicine can be bought from either of these countries for a fraction of what it cost here.
