I buy mostly what is on sale. If I buy enough to not run out of anything I can wait for the next time it is on sale. That usually means going to a different store the next time. I have no store-brand loyalty but try to stick to one store per week to cut down on travel..

When the flyers come out, I make a list of all the sale items I may want or need. That means going around for groceries to two or three stores, plus drugstores or department stores that might have items on sale.

I have done both for years and I have noticed something time after time; when i buy for the entire month from one storei have wayyyy more groceries to go around than when i shop weekly. I will occasionally stop at another store on the way home if there is double coupons hehe. I have no idea why this has held true for me every single time.... Also I don't like to make too many trips because wear and tear on the car, plus gas, doesn't help me to save $$.

Same store. Don't wanna go through the hassle of traveling around. I usually have a grocery club card, which helps w/ savings on the items I need.

Only to get items I want. It's not typically worth it to shop at different stores to get better prices on certain items. What you may save in money is often, I find, offsetted by time spent going from store to store and amount of gas used.

Luckily, our organic produce, grocery, meat, seafood, and health food are all in the same building. It's about a mile from the house. A good walk. The Supermarkets are further; I go there for certain items, less often.

We try to keep to one but we usually go to the wholesale places first for the bulk items. Then hit the grocery store for the little things.

I do go to different stores to get some things I know I can't get at the nearest store near me. I tend to buy kitchen cleaning items and kitchen towels etc. in bulk. I get supplies that last for 2-3 months . It saves me having to go out every week to buy these and I don't like them near food products so I try to get them on a different day. I also buy things like sugar, canned foods, dried products in bulk too. That way I am just left to shop for basics like bread, milk and fresh veggies etc when required. Buying in bulk also helps house keeping budget.

I live in Philadelphia downtown so I go to a variety of shops in the old Italian Market as well as Reading Terminal for all my fresh meats and produce. The rest I get at some regular supermarket.
