Tighten up the brakes

It's easy. I learned from my friend in a day. Basically you can go fast or medium speed. If you're learning, use mediium speed. So you choose wether you wanna drift left or right. When you wanna drift left, stick your left foot out, you'll find out later why. And if you want to drift right, stick the right foot out. Now go medium speed, before you wanna drift, have your foot out. Turn tightly the way you wanna go, while pressing the back brake. As you do this, you're gonna drift, try to pull your bike with you as you spin. Then land your foot, to keep your self balanced. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. : )

PS: Your bike needs to have good brakes. BMX bikes work best. Tall mountain bikes are hard to drift on.

It can be done at a rate of speed I would be uncomfortable with. Just turn your front wheel into the direction of your skid. Not a good move for absolute control because the brakes tend not to have much effectiveness during lateral movements.

On road bikes it's possible to do drafting. Depending on the wind, one rider goes front and the others close to him.

You can't do it on a mountain bike, because you need more space to manouver, and you don't go that fast.

Drift? Or Draft? You do it by bringing your front tire so close to the back tire of the lead racer so as to catch his draft. It cuts your wind resistance

Ice, snow, mud...

....or for some real excitement take the tires off and just go on the rims.

Do it on ice, or in mud. Even more fun, you can get dirty.
