When I try to remove it with the add/remove screen I get a "setup.exe has encountered a problem and needs to shut down. I never even get to leave square one in the process of eliminating this cancer. I even went through steps I found on the web for making registry changes...it had no effect.

Try to uninstall it while in safe mode. ie press F8 during bootup. And select safe mode option.
Also removing entries related to "musicmatch jukebox" from registry will uninstall it automatically. After that delete the folder from your c:\program files\musicmatch(or whatever) location.

i used to use it too because it came with my PC but have since switched to the awesome Winamp (love it). Maybe there's a file missing for it to initiate uninstall? first, i would try to uninstall from the start menu or program files, find the musicmatch jukebox stuff and try uninstalling from both of those places first to see if it starts the uninstall. If it still wont initiate the uninstall, try installing another musicmatch jukebox version or the same one and then try uninstalling the new install. if all that doesn't work, you could just leave it on your PC until you need to reformat the OS. Hope I helped some.
