I used to be like that, I wouldn't talk to school authorities, pay for my own things or make conversation with others.
It's social anxiety, and she has many choices concerning this issue. Medication; I do not recommend this because it made thigns worse for me, but if she tries it and likes it, that's all that matters. Therapy; this helped me a little with my social anxiety, I learned to be a little more social.
Or, like I ended up doing... If she's old enough, she can get a job that involves working with costumers, this can help. But I would recommend you be a friend and help her, but don't baby her.
I had social anxiety my whole life, and although it sometimes comes back now and then, I have improved incredibly.
Goodluck to her, and just be there for her!

If shyness is the problem, then start with small things, like encouraging her to take larger roles in class presentation and stuff like that. Coach her to relinquish her inhibitions, and put on a confident face when talkign to people. Believe it or not, pretending to be confident when you really aren't actually works!

There's nothing wrong with her...Today, if everyone isn't the same, they get branded with a social disorder..this is who she is...she will learn that the world is going to pass her by if she doesn't start speaking up..encourage her maybe to take a speech class...tell her she is just as good as everyone else..or help her out the best you can...talk to the superintendent for her..and ask him to help

I think i under stand.....There is not much you can do but be a good friend.now for her its just going to take some time some people are painfully shy when they are younger/older (me being one of them) just don't ever force her into a situation were she is uncomfortable, give her some time she will come out of it on her own.Good Luck

If her shyness is causing her problems, then maybe you can help her. Start by slowly exposing her to people in social situations. After that, she can gradually build up to talking to people like superintendents.

tell some people to talk to her on a regular basis in a friendly way. there are tons of aholes in high school, but you must know some friendly people who can do the job. eventually she'll realize that people she doesn't know aren't all mean.

I think your friend posted a question earlier asking for help for her friend who can't seem to express what she really means.
