Ok maybe abondon, was the wrong word to you here, my apologies, from what I have heard, 18 is the age where the parents kick thier children out, get a job, or start paying rent, I read a comment here on yahoo answers that reminded me of it, that is why I am asking to see if its true, and yeah i see how it would tach responsibility, but I think its allittle unecessary to make an 18 year old get a job and go to school. Why not keep heloing them untill they get out of college, that would be very appropriate. Makes life harder for them. I totally agree if your son or daughter at age 18 or 19 is a looser, yeah make them get a job and do whatever they want with thier life, nothing can change them but themselves.

I heard they do I also heard black people do the same thing when the kids turn 18 get out!!!!. I have noticed that Filipino's and Indian's support there kids until they are done with school(college) and beyond. I have alot of Filipino co-workers who are in there 20s who still live at home with there parents while they continue their education or they need help with their kids etc... I believe that other cultures from other countries are more close nit than whites or blacks.

where ever did you get that idea? most white kids want to move out of their parents house as soon after reaching 18 as they can.
Job or college they leave... sometimes coming back but not often...sometimes getting financial help and sometimes not so much....but not abandoned... I do not think it's accurate to generalize by race if anything it might be a class thing where some classes the kids are expected to work at younger ages and to be able to contribute to the family more and more upper middle class is more likely to be video game spoiled and too good to work as a clerk...but I don't know that for sure.
could be a research question to do a survey on this topic

I can't say that is true. I am 31 and my daughter and I are currently living with my parents. I don't know for sure, but I don't think "white people" or any other group specifically abandon their kids at a certain age. I have never heard of this. I have noticed that some families are closer than others, and stick together, but I don't know that it is more prevalent in one culture over another.

It all depends on the particular parents. But uh yeah, have you ever heard of a "college fund" many thousands of "white" parents pay to put their kids through college, or at least help them in some way. But not all do that, some expect them to pay their own way, or join the military, or whatever. There's different schools of thought when it comes to what to do with teenagers once they turn 18.

Don't know where you got your information from but someone was telling you a lie...White people do not abandon their kids at age of 18...I for one have four children all grown and living out on their own and have never abandoned them...I could never do that..Your statement is wrong and you better go back and check your facts

NO ITS NOT!! Generally its when children reach the age of 18 its thier choice to spread thier wings and fly the coop so to speak. Though sometimes they don't untill later, my sister is 25 and yet to leave....i wonder if she ever will.....as for the culture that support thier children the longest.....many people in different culture differ. You really can't pin point it to one culture.......

My 19 year old still lives at home. We live in an area that is very expensive. I think it is a good idea. Families use to stay together until the children got married. Not a bad idea.

No. I have met some parents who encouraged their kids to "fly from the nest" at 18, but that was only one family and I've met a lot of white families.
I think you should try to be reborn as a boy in Italy. Their Mothers take care of them forever, especially if the son remains unmarried (I guess there's a downside...).

Ever watch Failure To launch? That's a growing trend. (though for slightly different reasons.)
Most 18 year olds cannot afford to live on their own anymore. Inflation has outpaced salaries for decades and it's all catching up to us now. We've got 25-30 year old people still living at home because they can't afford to live on their own.
My brother in-law is 27 and still lives with his parents for this very reason.
One of my best friends received financial help from his mother for several years after he moved out because he could not afford to live on his own.

No, we don't. We just wish we could.
Seriously, some kids are fine, they go off to college and somehow they manage to finish and get a job and all that.
Others just don't seem to want to do anything that they are qualified to do. They lie around their parents' home playing video games.
I don't want to make this a racial issue at all, but I think if you took a poll, the kids who don't grow up would be mostly white.
