Sounds more like extortion to me. Extortion is a criminal offense, which occurs when a person either obtains money or property from another through coercion or intimidation or threatens one with physical harm unless they are paid money or property. You should take this matter to the police. If the police refuse to help you like you said, then you need to go to a higher power. I am by no means saying to file a complaint against any officer or agency, but to my knowledge, the police can only refuse to take a report from you under certain circumstances, and the tow company doing business for the police dept. is not one of them.

They can only pull the gun out to protect themselves. Even if they had the right and authority to take the car, they were not supposed to take it that way, and you can sue not only the towing company, but the car dealership that sent them out, because they were representing the dealership. I hope you got the names of all the people involved, and I would tell the car lot also what happened, and what you plan to do(just to watch them squirm of course).

Your own boss did this to you. Unbelievable. I 'm not sure you can do much at this point since the police wouldn't help at the time. It's going to be difficult for you to prove anything. I think you should definitely talk to an attorney though -- someone out of town.

Welcome to totalitarian Police Regime. Society has asked for it. Society has gotten it.
Police are an upper class of despots now that are able to get away with murder, rape, extortion, theft, drug dealing. They are above the law.
They are the law. If the police are involved you can't do a damn thing about it.
Welcome to America. Just be glad that they didn't riddle your *** with bullets and wipe you off the face of the planet.
Just take it as a loss as it is and don't vote for any more police raises in your tax ballot. As you can see they take all they want. They don't need any more hard earned tax money.
God Bless America

sounds like armed robbery to me.no one not ,even the police can hold a gun to your head and demand your title and car for payment owed, that's what civil courts are for. i have a hard time believing a police officer sat idly by while this happened.i hope you got the badge number, that would constitute aiding and abiding

I think that they can not do that unless you are more than three months behind in payments. Less than three they can only hit you in the kneecaps with a tire iron.
