The Pope dresses like the Popes throughout history. What we find elaborate today exuded divine exhalation in years past.
That being said, if the Vatican released all it's treasures back into the world, it could relieve a lot of problems worldwide. Just think of all the wealth that the catholic church holds that could go to easing world hunger, war, etc.

He wears what are known properly as vestments. Some priests wear what is called a "Habit"....this is not a term used only for the nuns.
Your question shows your ignorance. Either of the Church or just plain rudeness. Then again, I think maybe both.

Because he's Catholic. The Catholic stance is "gay = bad". Just because the Pope owns some FABULOUS flowing gowns doesn't mean he's a queen... it just means he gets to put people down and look great doing it.
