Are Tang and Orange Juice the same thing?
Are a Barbee Doll and Pamela Lee Anderson the same?
Is watching porn as good as having sex?
No.
One is NOT a good substitute for the other.
On the other hand, Miracle Whip is a fabulous substitute for warm vomit.

Mayonaise and Miracle whip are not the same thing -
Mayonnaise is a stable emulsion of vegetable oil and egg yolk, flavored with vinegar or lemon juice and frequently mustard (all of which help the emulsion). Other seasonings call for other names Mayonnaise is one of the mother sauces of classic French cooking, so it is the base for many other chilled sauces and salad dressings
and
Miracle Whip is a salad dressing and sandwich spread, invented in Salem, Illinois at Max Crosset's Cafe. It was originally called Max Crossett's X-tra Fine Salad Dressing. Kraft still manufactures it today. It is advertised as having the taste of mayonnaise with half the fat. According to the Kraft, Miracle Whip debuted at the Chicago World's Fair in 1933, during the height of the Great Depression. Not only was it tasty, but it was inexpensive, making it very appealing to consumers.

No. They are not the same. They taste different. Miracle Whip has a subtle sweetness that is not present in mayonnaise. They are similar types of condiments and are made similarly; however, they are NOT the same thing.
Try the recipe below for some fresh homemade mayonnaise. The secret of the emmulsion is once you begin to add the oil, keep it in a steady stream until it is gone. Not all at once, not too much at once, just a nice, slow steady stream. This is added once the other ingredients are blended (egg, mustard, etc...). If you want to immulate miracle whip, add a small amount of sugar, honey, or corn syrup to the base mix (prior to adding oil).
It is fun to make; although, it tastes slightly different from commercial products.

Mayonaise is Egg based and Miracle Whip is a name brand for salad dressing. They CAN both be used on sandwiches - but one is creamy and the other has a tang to it.

Miracle Whip has a sort of after taste, kind of tangy. Mayonaise is more richer, made with oil and eggs and it tastes so much better.

No they are not the same and they don't even compare. Real mayo is made with eggs and oil and tastes nothing like Miracle Whip. There is no flavor comparison to having real mayonnaise.

No, Miracle Whip is sold as a salad dressing. Mayo is a much richer product made with oil and eggs.

In the food service business, when a customer asks for mayo on a burger, they are usually getting miracle whip. I prefer real mayo, and ask for it when available.
