Isn't the expression "Born Again Christian" redundant? It seems that to be a Christian,, you must be "Born Again".

It seems that many of those who are being serious,(there are a bunch who aren't) are missing the point. I'm not looking for a sermon to be convinced of the merits of being a Christian. I believe and know that one is NOT a Christian unless he/she is "born again", consequently, it is redundant to say, "Born Again Christian" if they are "Born Again".

I think your question is ok and you gave your reason for your point of view. That is a plus in my book for your reason is very reasonable.
Does an opinion or position not depend on point of view of the user and the hearer or reader? Is it not a fact that many can hear the same word or words and each one of them can form a different opinion of what is said and why it was said?
Yes I do see your point and thus do consider it from your view as a good question on your part. However from the answers I see others do see you question from a different view. For me that is what makes this religion and spirituality section so great. ha ha ha Anyone can get his butt kicked at any time by just asking a question ha ha Even if that question does seem reasonable or just a single view. Never a dull day here on Yahoo.

There are many Christians in the world. But if you do not confess your sins directly to God and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior then you are not a born again Christian. You may be born into a family that is Christian but that does not make you born again. You may go to church and tell others you are Christian but unless you live with God at the center of your life you are not born again. You will know the difference. Contact a born again friend and ask them t help you put God at the center of your life. Then find a good Bible teaching church and start growing.

No, not necessarily. It's not "born again" in the same sense. A Born Again Christian is one that was either born or raised non-Christian or has strayed from Christianity who chooses to accept Christ at that later point in life. For those already Christian, being "born again" means renewing your belief in Christ and reaffirming your religion.

The first time you are born, you are born with the inherited sinful nature from Adam. When you are "Born Again", you are born into the Family of God by taking on the nature of Jesus, who was sinless. The bible gives instruction on how to be "born again" in Acts 2:38 "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

Yes it is. But there's nothing wrong with that.
Read this verse:
Genesis 41:32 And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.
So born again christian - it's established that you are saved.

(All you have to do is believe in your heart that God raised Jesus Christ from the dead and confess him as Lord.)

I have never understood this either.
I thought just being a Christian means you've given you life to Christ & you work everyday to be the best person you can be.
For some reason that phrase sounds arrogant....supposedly only God knows if you're soul is saved and that happens after you die.
I'm very confused.

Yes it is,but we are trying to clarify what we believe by saying that,because there are many carnal Christians who are not filled with the Holy Spirit and sometimes don't act like Christians should.

Jesus Himself used the term Born Again. He used it because He wanted to make the point once you're a Christian, you can never lose it. Have you ever known anybody who became unborn? You can die, but you can't become unborn.

its just a good excuse for people to justify all the wrong things theyve done. everyone needs a chance for a new start and deserves one or two. its the popular thing to renounce your former life and friends and now your perfect. its just an illusion. yeah, in a way its redundant.
