This is from Woman's Day magazine Sept 12 2006 article called "Home Remedies That Work". I've never tried it.
Mix 1/4 cup of vinegar and a 1/4 cup of honey.
Why it works:One tablespoon of this mixture taken six times a day will sooth your throat. The honey fights infection and coats the throat, relieving irritation, while the vinegar kills bacteria, says Dr Page.
Good luck

Go to the drugstore and get Airborne!!!! I'm a teacher and I swear that stuff kept me from getting about 6 colds/sore throats last year!
You have to take it as soon as you start to feel sick or it won't work--so if you just got it, try Airborne, but if you've been battling it for the last few days it won't work. But get some anyway so that next time you'll have it on hand! I'm serious, it works that well.

The worlds best remedies will probably only diminish it by about 5-35% if your lucky and for maybe 2 hours at the very most if your very lucky.
Warm salt water gargle works for me. Tea also. Good luck. Try not to drink anything cold.

Warm salt water. It's slightly harsh, but rinse with lemon water. Do this at least 3 times in 24 hours, and you'll be good in no time.
Needed: Warm water. 1+ tea spoon(s) of Table salt. Cup.
Good luck.

A warm salt-water gargle and throat lozenges can help reduce pain and inflammation. Over-the-counter pain medications such as acetaminophen can be used to treat pain and fever.
