Peter takes majority decision over Toney
Despite losing a point for cuffing Toney on the ears with both hands during a clinch in the ninth round, Peter won by scores of 116-111 on the cards of judges Alejandro Rochin and Richard Flaherty. Judge Gale Van Hoy favored Toney 115-112.

Goes to show, trash-talking ain't worth crap when you step into the ring and can't do anything but fight a defensive fight against a less talented person! Toney should retire. Yes, he can beat some of those big boys.. which ain't saying much if you look at the heavyweights right now... a bunch of bums with no talent! He's lost his luster and his passion for the game. Those steroids are now manifesting themselves in the way of his uncontrollable temper, his unnecessary/uncalled for rudeness toward serious newspaper reporters, his attitude toward the general publc and his outbursts! His acting like another heavyweight... uh... what's his name... that other bum... oh, yeah, Tyson! Anyway, Toney got cheated out on the decision; I wanted him to lose but in the middle of the ring. Maybe the power-that-be are tired of his arrogance and his abusive attitude toward the public and the reporters? Maybe they're trying to get rid of him? I think he won by a very slim margine but I also wanted him to lose... I did not want him to be cheated.

if you watch the fight and you know how boxing should be judged you would clearly see that james toney won the fight. but hey the judges had it going for sam peter.
