Because people are trying to find some excuse.
They deny any responsibility for their own actions.

Most of them I believe, because they do not want to take any blame for anything themselves. When it comes to our personal life, when things do not go right, or as we wish, we should be taking a hard look at our own life; to see if we are living as God would have us to live; and are we being obedient unto his Holy Word. Most of the time we will find the answer. As far as the world is concerned, because people love to have their own way. And when they do not get their own way, they want someone else to blame. And God seems to be the easiest one to blame. But the truth is, it is not God's fault; but our own. All that people think of anymore is me, myself, and I. They never think of helping anyone else, praying for anyone else, or nothing of the sort. When doing so would remove much of the misery in our own life, as well as in the world. Most people do not want to do what it takes to remove the problems; but just find someone to blame them on.

Taking myself out of the equation (I don't blame God for my own situation when things go badly), I think it is because if God is all powerful, then God could stop the suffering in the world. So many children are dying from starvation, dehydration, curable diseases, etc. through no fault of their own (most often, due to human inaction). Couldn't God stop this? If so, why not. If a loving parent saw their own child on the brink of death and had the power to lift them from their suffering, wouldn't they do it? And if God is so much more loving than a human being, why doesn't God deliver innocents from their suffering? Saying that we simply can't understand God's ways is a cop out (at least, it is to me) since it lets our all powerful diety off the hook. Or we place the blame on Satan, which again, if God was all powerful, could stop if God wanted to. That seems to be the reason (to me) why so many blame God for all the suffering in the world.

It's unfortunate to say that only those who do not have a good understanding of who God is and what His plan is for them will listen to the voice of Satan in blaming God for all their troubles.
perhaps try to help them understand that it isn't God who causes misery.
He created a perfect world
Satan brought sin and rebellion into the world by introducing deception and lies to Adam and Eve.... therefore blame the misery on Satan.
PS - Satan loves when people blame God - lets start putting the blame where it belongs.

Probably trying to build up a defense case for Judgment Day by saying "well you didnt give me this" and "I had to struggle with this."

Indeed people need to realize theyre not in heaven yet but a fallen sinful world where Satan is battling to keep you away from God. True joy comes from believing in the Lord. True misery comes when you are not submitting to the Lord and youre focused on the things of this world rather than Christ.

the word God.The noun. The proper noun, is not sacred anymore. it holds no meaning to most. God has become another slang word. The "word" Allah, although taken from the Arabic word for our word God, is held in more respect. It is sad,but i am afraid it is true. Even most Christians (so called or true believers), use the word God flippantly. Jehovah, Yahweh, Allah, God. Four languages. For words, Same Meaning. Same Being.

So to answer your question....Why do people blame God for the misery in their life and in the world? it would be the same if they blamed you or me. To them God is just another word.

because they would rather place the blame than take accountability and responsibility in any way. For Christians and atheists it is always God's fault, the fault of religion or the devil made me do it. None of these is true, it is the inate desire in EVERY man, regardless of race , religion , culture, to have wealth and power and just the tendency to be selfish- many never learn self control or to honor others above themselves but rather than admit these faults and motivations- it is always much easierto place the blame elsewhere - and God is an easy target when one has deceived themselves into believing they will not one day be accountable

Because they do not understand God or the Bible. God does not have dominion over the earth. When Adam and Eve made the ultimate mistake in the Garden of Eden, God gave man dominion over the earth, free will. We have two sides to our bodies, flesh and spirit. God gave us the spiritual side, so that we would be connected to Him, if we chose, but some people choose fleshly things and thoughts. That is where people come up with the thoughts that it is all God's fault when something bad happens. It is our choice what we do with our lives here on earth.

because they don't realize that sometimes you are the cause of your own misery, and they don't see that they have to take responsibility sometimes.

a lot of people have problems, some are born with them, some come to you, some follow you around---but if you sat and thought about it, it hurts when sometimes something bad may have happened and you were responsible for it yourself.
it hurts, so people don't want to take the blame for themselves, and they blame God, but it's wrong.
