Fibromyalgia is a somatic disorder and M.S. is not. Possibly it has been misdiagnosed for the last 7 years and instead you have had multiple sclerosis for all of this time but M.S. is sometimes hard to diagnose. I hope that the original diagnosis stands for your sake. Good luck!

My Mom was diagnosed with MS almost 5 years ago now and it is very tricky to diagnose. At one point in the process of being daignosed an ER doctor thought that she was drunk (my Mother does not drink!) and ran blood tests for that only to find surprise surprise no alcohol ... yet he still thought she was dunk go figure!
The symptoms of MS vary greatly however with MS if you have had an MRI done they can tell right away. MS is basically multiple lesions in the mylein shaft (the stuff that coats your nerves!!) at the top of your spine. An MRI can easily detect this and if you have any lesions regardless of the symptoms they diagnose it as MS.
On main syptom of MS is sensitivity to temperature. Some people are affected by the cold while others, like my Mom are affected by the heat. If my Mom gets to warm she can become dizzy, feel nautious, become clumsy and some people can even experience temporary paralysis from becoming to hot. Also in my Mom's case she has increased sensitivity in her hands and feet that from what she describes feels a lot like having that "pins and needles" sensation all the time.
Check with your doctors but if you do not have the lesions that would appear on an MRI than you would not have MS. If you do find out that it is MS, just keep in mind that while it is scary it is not the end of the world, many many people have and live with MS. A wonderful website that offers a lot of support and information is:
http://www.mssource.com
Also for medication if you do nto have prescription coverage the pharmaceutical companys offer reduced rates (depending on income) for the medication - just check with the pharmaceutical company and they can help you with that!

Good luck and I wish you the best

Optic neuritis is the number one symptom of MS.
I would go in and get this checked out just in case.
