I need some new hairstyles, all I know how to do is ponytails, half-ponytails, and wearing it down. I have light brown hair that is just past my shoulders and it is wavy and it is not thin but it is not thick.

I also would like some tips on scrunching my hair. I tried it once but it looked really bad.

Try wearing your hair wavy.... Shampoo and condition your hair, apply mousse or gel lightly throughout, flip over and use a blow dryer with a diffuser attachment. the best diffuser looks like a bowl with fingers in it... gently place a section of your hair in the diffuser and scrunch it up to the scalp. hold still and allow to dry most of the way, then move to the next section and do the same. flip back up and do the same for the underneath hair or any that didn't get dry enough. use a smoothing product to gently place curls and control frizz... if needed, use a curling iron to touch up any spots that don't curl as well

there is a great ym magazine that came out a couple months ago with 1001 new hairstyles and 500 hairstyles that have been 'in style' for the past 5 years.
you might find that useful. sorry i don't know the exact issue

when trying new styles it is ... important to remember just to have fun with it... and all the pictures that you see in the magizines are done by pro's.. that can takes 2hours to do someones hair... so dont get disappointed if it doesnt look just like the pics. Your hair is your own, work it your way.....

Braids are always good-french or regular. Messy buns, neat ones too.
French twists...check hair mags or any fashion mags.
