There is this guy I have been friends with since highschool, at one point I even had a crush on him, until I met my boyfriend. I have hugged this guy many times in front of my boyfriend and he doesn't mind. This is because he knows that I only have eyes for him now. I think my boyfriend is secure in the fact that I am with him, and a hug is just a hug. I will say this however, the way you hug can be a factor, if it is a long, clinging kind of flirty hug... I could see why your boyfriend could be mad. But either way this sounds like a case of jealousy, or a trust issue in your relationship.

Depends on the hug. If it is a quick hug, ok. You can put your self in his place and see how you would feel if he hugged a girl the way you did. How would it effect you?.. good rule of thumb, don't you think?

So you hug a guy friend, what's the big deal? I mean, if your boyfriend really loved you, he would trust you.

it's not that your bf doesn't trust you. i think he doesn't trust the friend. to your bf, that guy may be a threat, a stranger touching you inappropriately. i'd be mad.
