So here's the deal.. I pay a LOT of money to live where I do and for my nice house.. but I have neighbors a couple houses down that have these dogs that bark NON-STOP during the night. I have no problem AGAINST dogs, actually, I like dogs, just not them barking non-stop so I can't sleep! We have called the police 2 times and we've even knocked on their door ourselves, but they don't answer.. but you would think they would get the hint after the police came... well.. apparently not.. and now the police say we're going to have to call animal control. I hate to be the bad guy.. but I mean damn, I can't even sleep!!!!!! What's your opinion?

Call animal control. The bad guy? Heck, the dogs aren't happy, either, if they're barking all night. My dogs stay inside at night and really only bark to let me know they're ready to come in. If someone leaves their dogs out 24/7, you know they're not caring for or loving those animals. Give the dogs a chance to find a home that loves them and get them the heck out of there.

I'd call animal control. You deserve a good night's sleep too! Maybe barking is the only way the dogs can get attention-even if it's negative attention, to them, it's better than nothing. Maybe those dogs deserve a chance at a real life and not stuck outside with no attention 24/7. All my dogs have always come in at night so we ALL can get a good night's sleep. Are they being fed and watered? Call your local Humane Society if not.....

It is not always easy to get dog to stop barking. I can't stand dogs that bark all night. My own sleep inside so that they do not disturb anyone. These people have the responsibility as pet owners to see that their animals are under control and not bothering anyone else.
Call the authorities if you can't reach some solution with your neighbours. They won't nesisarily know that it was you that dobbed them it but be prepared for the animosity that will come with it if they find out.

What a terrible dilemma. I can only sympathize with you. I live in a nice neighborhood too and there is a dog on the next block that howls at night but I just take 2 generic P.M.s with a glass of wine and drown him out. Some people just do not realize they are being inconsiderate. Too bad you don't live near a lake with aligators--gators love little doggies--I should kno--my 18 year old jack russell was eaten by a gator last month.

My opinion is send the owners an anonymous letter and tell them that there dog is annoying the neighbourhood and that if they don't rectify the problem that you will call animal control and they could face losing their beloved pet(?? )that they leave out to bark all night we have neighbours like that too. very irritating in the summer when trying to sleep with the windows open!!good luck!!

call animal control. the bad guys are the ones who have dogs that aren't being taken care of and disturbing Innocent hard working or high paying what ever, people, who don't have dogs and don't deserve to hear damn dogs barking all night. its not good for the dogs and its rude too! call animal control. you might have to tape the noise they make. but its not nice of the dog owners to disturb you like that. or neglect the animals!

Have you directly spoken to them about the problem? If you have not, and they still aren't answering the door, I would write them a not and stick it under the door/ put it in their mail box sayin that the dogs are disturbing your sleep and if you dont handle it I am calling animal control after 2 nights. That way you gave them a warning and you have no other choice. If you do that. you are NOT the bad guy.

man stop calling the cops on me!
no just kidding...it drives me crazy too! Animal control might be able to get their attention...they will not remove the dogs unless the animals are in danger. Go ahead and call...you have the right to quiet in your own home...I'm surprised the police won't do anything...if you have an HOA you should seek help from them.
get some earplugs until someone does something...good luck!

well i guess dogs will be dogs but i mean i guess you may not be the only person in the neighborhood that can't sleep but at least you have the guts to go up to their door so maybe during the day you should talk to the owner and maybe tell them to put their dogs inside their house during the night. I hope this helps solve the problem.

I don't know what you tell you, but you can sleep with a radio on and maybe you can't hear the barking that much, I have three dogs, and two dogs are outside and one is in side . When dogs start barking you can't do much about it, thats how they talk, I know it's a pain in the butt, but that is life. Sorry I live with dogs
