The first step is to talk to your landlord. Tell him/her that you are worried about the neighborhood and the welfare of your family. Ask them what you would need to do to break the lease. Try being nice and honest and that usually works.

If the landlord is an idiot about the situation then you can be an idiot right back. Call him complaining constantly about the up keep of the apartment. Have him constantly come out to fix things covered in the lease and sooner or later he might get frustrated enough to let you out of the lease. BUT, I would try the nice route first =)

I've known quite a few hippies, and they dont act like you describe. I'm thinking you have chosen the wrong word to describe your new neighborhood members, as well as the wrong neighborhood. I would talk to the landlord about any arrangement that you could make to move somewhere else. Maybe he'she has another property somewhere else for rent, or will elt oyu seblet, or will take a moth or two payment and let you break your lease? good luck.

Allow your son to associate with the people of your choice while he's under your roof. You make the rules. What's outside, keep outside!
Find out if you have the option to 'sublet' your lease.

Sounds like you neighborhood is full of thugs not hippies! Hippies do not act like you have described they are peaceful and fun loving people!
Did you not check out the place before you moved?! You might try talking to your landlord.

Thats a tough one. Financially you may have to tough it out. If you can afford it, start talking with friends or members of your church to help you find a better neighborhood. When you find a better place (this time you research it) you have a decision.

Just break it.

It isn't the proper place to raise children.

BTW, who chose the home?

Make peace with the natives. Offer them sugar and trinkets.

Give it time, and maybe they will see this to.
I hope it gets better.
