Call 411 or whatever the directory assistance is in your area. Ask for the Consolate General For The United Kingdom In Australia.
This will connect you to the passport office of UK in Australia. Tell them you have a lost UK passport. Then follow their instructions and retunr the passport to office.

The best place would be the closest British Embassy or Consulate, because that's where she'll have to go to replace it. If that's not an option I'd turn it over to the local police. I think it's great that you're trying so hard to actually find her. Good Luck!

I applaud you in your efforts, but all you need to do is to drop it off at the local British embassy. You won't have to waste any money on long-distance phone calls or postage. (I'm surprised that the Aussie Passport Svc didn't make the same suggestion.)

give to local police she probably needs it real bad.......if british embassy is there take it there because that is where she will look first to see if anyone turned in...i thinkl its a good thing your doing many people dont realize how important a passport is,,
