The term IQ, or Intelligence Quotient, generally describes a score on a test that rates the subject's cognitive ability as compared to the general population. IQ tests use a standardized scale with 100 as the median score. On most tests, a score between 90 and 110, or the median plus or minus 10, indicates average intelligence. A score above 130 indicates exceptional intelligence and a score below 70 may indicate mental retardation. Like their predecessors, modern tests do take in to account the age of a child when determining an IQ score. Children are graded relative to the population at their developmental level.

I.Q stands for Intelligence Quotient. The higher the number the more intelligence you have. If you have an IQ of 80 or less you have a mental handicap. A score of 100 is average intelligence. Finally, 130 and up is a sign of intellectual superiority.

It stands for Intelligence Quotient. It was made by I believe a French educator that wanted to form a test the could predict the ability of a student to succeed and to what extent. It was based on 100 as being the average intelligence, and a bell-shaped curve is formed from that. The 100 is from 10. What I don't remember is if the 10 stood for the age or grade of the student that was supposed to have that intelligence at that time. Then 110 is for the next year up, and so on; likewise downwards.

I.Q. stands for Intelligence Quotient. It is basically a number between 40 and 200 that tells how smart you are. You can take several on-line tests that are fairly accurate. If my memory serves me well, I think anything over 150 is considered a Genius. Average is about 108. And legally "Slow" is around 70.

IQ stands for Intelligence Quotient. To keep it simple, IQ is your potential to learn. Achievement is what you already know. So IQ tests try to measure how you solve problems and how easily you learn new concepts. They have many limitations: one, there is a time component, so faster performance often equals a higher score; two, it is English language based, so individuals with language or hearing barriers don't do as well; three, it is Anglo-cultural based; and four, there is no evidence to show that IQ can predict anything, including academic success.

Personally, I think there are many kinds of intelligence which are not measured by IQ tests. For example, good managers often have high levels of people intelligence. For all the secrecy and hype that goes into IQ tests, their use is questionable.

It stands for "Intelligence Quotient" and it is used to measure your learning potential. Some believe it is accurate, others do not. It is measured throught a norm references, standardized test. But there is another school of thought out there that believes in Gardner's Multiple intelligences. That theory states that everyone is intelligent but in different areas. If you want to know more, you can look up Gardner's multiple intelligences in a search engine. THERE IS SOOO MUCH on it! Hope this helped!

I.Q. stands for intelligence quotient. It is a number that rates one's intelligence, for example, 80 is low intelligence, 100 is average, and 140+ is genius. However, today we know that there are several forms of intelligence, not just one. I believe the number is at 9 at last count.

Intelligence Quotient. It is a standard test that simply predicts how well a person would perform in an academic setting. It was developed by two guys, Stanford and Binet and uses culturally sensitive questions.
