i am Indian & African. My family's main religion is Hinduism, but my sisters & i were raised in Christian schools up until i was in 6th grade. I basically grew up reading the Bible, & many Christian beliefs & ethics were built into my system. While i do practice Hinduism & believe in Krishna, Ganesh, & so on, i also believe in Jesus Christ & God. I would say i am half hindu & half christian, really, & yes- i understand that firm believers in their faith would say i am not correct in my beliefs, but hey, that's what i believe & i think that if there is any higher power above us, He or They will accept that i chose to put my faith in something & though i may not have believed in the RIGHT higher power, @ least i acknowledged the fact that there was one (or many). anyways- my question is this: Please visit this site: http://www.godisimaginary.com/index.htm
and read some of the proofs. Please tell me how can one keep believing when there is so much disproving the existence of any God?

Not to say that i will stop believing because of this website, but it is so confusing to read these things and see some of these proofs are true. it is really upsetting me and i'd like it if i could hear your opinions on these things. How can one NOT lose faith after reading these proofs? Help me, please!

If you think that these higher powers that may exist will accept you for putting faith into something, why do you assume they won't accept you if you put your faith into nothing? If you choose to live as a Christian, a Hindu, both, neither, whatever, what will it matter? I mean, you seem to think it's so important that you've acknowledged that one or more exist, but why? Do you think it's "scoring you points"? Do deities care about points? Wouldn't it make sense to think that "they" will be happy as soon as you've settled on what makes sense for you?
If you learn that there is no proof for God or Ganesh or Vishnu or any god but still believe there might be one or more out there, is that the "wrong" way to go? Or is it pleasing that you find contentment and peace in whatever path you take? Why not just finish your journey of self discovery and accept whatever destination you lead yourself to?

I don't know what to tell you. I had a Gita and found it hard reading. Much harder than the Bible.
I know a Hindu Girl and she was also raised on a Christain school and she lies like a rug.
Does the Hindu faith believe in lying!
If so, it's not a good faith. Give it up!
If that's not a part of Hindu, then this girl has NO religious scruples at all!
What are your scruples?
Do you take your clothes off for guys you are not married to and let them fool around with you?
Do you lie
Do you lead people on!
What essenses does both Hindu and Christains share that are constant!
Find a meeting point.
A lot of Christian boys take or talk their girls into taking off their clothes and doing things outside of marraige.
That is NOT Christian!
Lying is NOT Chrstian
Stealing is NOT CHrstian
Hindus believe when their pet dies it's like a relative. I can't see any Christian not AGREEING with that. IT's something close to you.
While Christians don't beleive in Reincarnation, they do believe even animals have some type of soul and are God's creatures.
The meeting point is what you can get away with.
In some India cults when a man is to marry you and has cold feet his "best man" is supposed to marry you, correct!
This is the Gospel accoriding to Sadjat Ray in the movie "Apu"
Is that Not correct!
If you're a Christian you can release the best man unless he really wants you.
Do you want to marry someone who doesn't want you!
Maybe if you release him he'll say, it's ok and if the two of you agree then you marry.
Blend the two.
Take the BEST of both and leave the WORST of both behind!
I am told today Girls DON"T have to marry someone chosen by their parents.
It's not a REQUIREMENT like it was 40 years ago.
This is called being progressive.
A progressive Hindu
A progressive Christian
I can't see anything In Chrstianity that forbids you celebrating Diwalli
It's a fesitval.
I can't see anything from my limited standpoint of Hindu to you celebrating Easter or Chirstmas.
It's a festival.
Is Khrisnia any more or less viable than Jesus. I can't say for sure.
Maybe GOD enterinal sent Khrisnia, Mohammad, Jesus and Moses to help EVEYRONE.
YOU have to ultiamtely decide what you believe.
That is your right as a person.
YOu have to ultiamtely decide what you do and if you steal, pillage, covet, or lift your skirts up for someone who isn't married to you.
YOU decide what is right or wrong.
God has always decreed that.
The rest is up to you.
Make the right choice.
Your future depends on it!

k, I didn't read the link you provided, but I do believe that I know where you're coming from. While I was raised Christian on my moms' side, my dad's side are pretty much atheists. I also grew up in a very multicultural neighbourhood, and so was exposed to the holidays and beliefs of other people. I believe in Jesus, but do not dispute the existence of other religious figureheads. I think they were all here to help guide us to God, whoever He may be. As for disproving the existence of any God, how can that possibly be done? We don't know if there is a God, or if there isn't one. NO ONE ON THIS EARTHLY PLANE COULD POSSIBLY KNOW THAT!! We only have faith. And that is one thing that I think human beings cannot live without. Even those who say they believe in nothing, in a time of crisis, they will turn to whatever is up there and ask "why me". Who are they talking to if they don't believe?

Well in my church we do not have an offering plate and tell people if they wish to give something then to give time as it is the most valuable thin we have to give. am a firm beleiver in my beliefs, and I also feel I have no right to tell you your are wrong. I think you have a wonderful system of personal beliefs, and you should ask yourself more than anyone else if it is right for you. I have found many a similar websites saying this and that do not exist, and that it because it is human nature to question anything we can not have contact with on a day to day basis with one sense or another. People also tend to deny or fear what they can not understand, and honestly who of us can really say we would be able to understand the mind heart and soul of a God or Goddess?None. Just look to yourself and talk to the people around you that love and care about you. The think about the miricle the fact any of us are here in the first place, and there you will find your answer.

All you need to do is look around you and inside yourself to know that there has to be "something" that had to create us and the world - too much planning and detail went into it! That said, that "something" has left us alone for a reason - whether it is to see if we do believe in "It" - whether we get several chances to come back and see if we can live this life right - or for whatever the purpose - we don't know. Only a creator of a creation hold's all the answers to what it's purpose was, is and will be - "It" is both logical yet illogical. Logical in the sense that no matter how you try to deny "It's" existence within yourself you cannot and illogical in every other sense! You are given the bare minimal to find and hold onto "It"! In itself it is the greatest and smartest of creation in itself. Therefore, no matter which way you want to belief in a "higher power" it doesn't matter because all it boils down to is that you always have to be "It concious"!

Your on the right path. From a Christian standpoint I appears to me that you haven't had a real touch from the Living God. God does exist, He exists spiritually and people keep looking for Him materially. You must first open your heart and be completely honest with yourself and God. Know that you are a sinner in need of forgiveness. Repent of your sins and ask the Holy Spirit to dwell within you. Then the true will set you free.
Regarding the web site you posted, that's only one side of the story. You must also weigh the evidence from the other side too and THEN make a decision. Don't simply read something once and assume it's true, do the research yourself.

The fact that you are getting upset over this website is evidence that your heart is not believing these false claims of an atheist website. Why not go to a christian website or a website with neutral ground showing the pros and cons of all religions and non-religions. The idea that you believe there is a higher power is absolutely Wonderful. I commend you to continue ur search and keep an open mind to All religions. Study the Bible. Search the history of All religions and non-religions. No one can make this choice for you. Don't feel condemn or in a hurry. It took me over 10 years to make a decision about God and religion and I am glad that I was given time to search. God does exists and you must read believers testimonies on this site on how he has changed their lives which is proof of his existence.
Shalom

We should be careful when we say there is evidence disproving God. What is the evidence really disproving? Is it disproving a higher echelon of consciousness, or is it disproving our beliefs and attitudes about a higher echelon of consciousness? If, as we grow older, we still carry the simple understanding of "God" that we learned at age 3, then we have done a poor job of growing and maturing.
"God" to mankind two thousand years ago was an explanation for things that today we understand differently. Try to imagine some things that we comprehend today which our ancestors of all cultures and traditions would have attributed to the crude concept "God" in their day.
When you do this exercise, you will begin to see that while monotheist profess to one god, in fact, they each create their own. If you can recognize this, your understanding of "God" will expand, and you will no longer be asking this question, but, instead, more interesting and complicated questions about consciousness and existence.

Do not believe what is on that site, it is a perversion of what is written in the Bible. For every point that person is attempting to make, I could disprove his point, thereby proving God's existence, by quoting scripture from the Bible. I will say that you cannot be "Half-Christian". If you are a true Christian, then you are entirely Christian, believing only in God, because that is the definition of a Christian. God is the only God, and all other religions and gods are false. (The ten commandments - thou shalt have no other gods before me) God is a jealous god, and he will not understand if you worship other gods in addition to him.
