With soda, on the rocks. In black coffee. Chilled with vodka, as a martini (this one gets coffee beans as a ganish, too).

You can try it maybe with a little club soda this will dilute it just enought o still enjoy. You are right that is mainly the best straight up. Or on the rocks.
