No, it is not bad but with your brother and Mom being alcoholics you should try not to drink. Because right now you are young, but as you get older your system will ask for more. The more you drink the more you want. Since you seem to be concerned all ready, maybe you are looking at your bother and Mom as you in the future. So as a Mom myself, try not to drink at all. I used to be an alcoholic, I have been sober for 3 years and now I feel happy most of the time. Can drive my car without being afraid of being caught by the police and so on. So you see I am speaking to you from my own experience. I started drinking when I was young and never stop till 3 years ago. Amen for the clean and sober people. I hope this helps you make the right decision.God Bless.
I did not have to tell you this in the Internet, but something made me write it. If it doesn't help you, it might help someone else that reads it.

Absolutely Not! The American Heart Association RECOMMENDS a glass of wine a day for heart health. The difference between an alcoholic and a non-alcoholic is simple. NEED. Do you NEED 2-3 glasses of wine, or simply want some wine. If you need the wine, then yes, alcoholism may be a problem. If it's just that you want a couple glasses of wine now and then, no problem. Hell, it's good for you.

2-3 times a week? That is perfectly moderated. In fact, I've read from some research articles that it is actually helpful to take in a shot of wine after dinner because it has a positive effect on your heart.
If your mom and your brother is already alcoholic, I assume you very well know the downside of being hooked up relentlessly on alcohol. It could lead to personal devastation
As it is, wine is just a light alcoholic drink, but then again, everything that is taken beyond the allowed volume can damage your health.
Taking everything in moderation will keep you fit on the other hand.

Italians have a glass of red wine with every evening meal. It is good for the blood. I don't drink wine myself I don;t like the taste. but my husbands doctor said a glass a day helps the heart and blood. It has to be a good wine though and not one of the cheap brands.

Alcoholism does run in families, but if you are confident that you can only drink once glass a night, or a few glasses a week then it has been said to be good for you. I agree with the previous answer, that red wine is good for your heart. But just one glass - sip it slow. If your really drinking it for the taste, then it shouldn;t be a problem.

I have seen a report saying that, having a couple of red wine a week is actually good for you but not 7 bottles a week. So, I think you should be fine and there's nothing to worry. I am an alcoholic and love it

Friends of mine who have come from alcoholic backgrounds have been very wary of what and how much they drink. Some didn't drink untill their mid 20's. I think comming from a situation like yours you are very concious about how alcohol effects you and those around you and are most likely to be more sensible than most when it comes to consuming it.
I'd say its fine to drink 2-3 times a week, epscially if its socially, or with a meal.

No. wine is a mild alcohol drink.
If you drink it daily, or a lot each day, then you are an alcoholic.
I read a survey a few days ago; super rich people consumer more alcohol more than anyone. Hmmmm...
I do not drink at all, maybe that is why I am not rich.
