Some colleges do allow pets-small dogs, cats, etc. When you are about to go off to college I would ask first. Sometimes colleges have strict no pet polices. It just depends on what college you go to. Best of luck to you! I love animals, I don't think that I could live with out them!

The best answer I can give you is to contact the college you are going to be attending. I really doubt if you would be able to keep a pet in that situation. A dorm is a place where a diverse grouping of people live and not all would like dogs, or some may have allergies; so I would doubt it. Contact the college, and good luck!

I don't know of any but while you're in school you are going to be so busy with studying and a social life that maybe having a pet right now might not be the best idea. Having a puppy requires so much work as well as time and not to mention expense! You have your whole life ahead of you! Enjoy your college years, because they'll be gone before you know it! After that, you will have plenty of time to have pets.....and when you do, I hope you adopt lots from your local pound or shelter....SAVE A LIFE, ADOPT A PET! Good luck this semester and have fun! God Bless..........

You should probably look into renting something of campus because I've never heard of a college allowing pets in dorm rooms. I think in Legally Blonde Reese Witherspoon was suppose to be in a sorority house so maybe rules there are different. However, in a movie they can do whatever they want and it doesn't necessarily reflect real life.

If you live on campus, most likely no. You need to contact the college and find out.
If you live off campus, it is up to your landlord.
Remember when you get a pet, you are responsible for it. With a dog you need to first establish your leadership role, or there will be trouble. If you don't know how to be boss dog, then check out the TV show "The Dog Whisperer". Every episode has lessons on being boss. Also you should walk you dog daily, morning is better.

Most colleges allow fish, if the aquarium is under a certain size. I've seen hamsters, guinea pigs, turtes, and snakes in college...I don't know if they were allowed, but they're pretty easily hidden. A dog or cat is not allowed in the dorms. A lot of people are allergic to cats, so you'll get caught. And dogs have to be walked, so you'll get caught.

Though a pet can provide a whole lot of therapy, comfort, love, and even some protection, you are at College to learn. You shouldn't have time to walk the dog, much less, think for yourself!
