A long, long time ago ("...in a galaxy far, far away...") I had a kitten that LOVED to hide inside our upright piano. All would be quiet and then we'd hear the piano playing itself as she walked on the inside keys. Why she always chose 2 in the morning to get musical I never discovered, but I always thought it was neat. My parents had a different view.
We finally had to make sure that the doors leading to the innards of the piano were tightly closed and the handles secured or she would actually open the sliding doors! She was terribly upset when we eventually sold the piano...complete with bits of her fur on the inside from years of sleeping on the felt keys.
I am looking forward to reading about the hiding places other cats have discovered.
Please hug your adventurous and inventive Kitty for me.

My youngest cat loved the spot under the boxspring of our mattress so much that when we got a NEW mattress, she actually ripped out the lining so she could get into that one, too. Our older cat, however, tends to find higher ground. We periodically find him on the top of the kitchen cabinets, which is no small feat with the nine-foot ceilings...

Behind some drawers. She got inside the cabinet and was on her hind legs. When you opened the top drawer you saw her head, then you'd see her tummy when you opened the middle drawer, and her hind feet when you opened the bottom drawer! Took some work to get her out of there but she's fine.
I also had a Siamese that wasn't real bright. Have you ever seen the Grinch who Stole Christmas and noticed that part where the dog hides under the bed, but his butt is still sticking out? Well the Siamese got scared and when I went in my room I found her cowering under my bed, thinking that she was completely concealed, but her little brown and tan butt was sticking out from under the bed. Cats are awesome.

Oh my god! My cat got into the bed in the same way. She was a kitten, she got away when I was staying at a friends summer house. The beds upstairs had the filmy cover thing that's tacked to the beds off, and she was inside the bed. She would not get out of there! I finally had to flip the mattress and disconnect each claw one by one. She was completely freaked out.

My kittens got into the lining under a wooden bench with an upholstered cushion seat. Little arms were sticking down to the floor from above. It looked very funny.
Also, my female kitten got into a big box full of bubble wrap and started to pull the rest of the wrap hanging out back into the box.
Usually she is hiding from her brother, not me.

One of the tiles is pulled back in the ceiling in the basement bathroom and she jumped up in there one time. A few other times she has snuck up into the attic while the ladder was down and hours later I'd hear meowing from above. It didn't take me long to figure out where she was. Silly kitty, I just love her to death. <333

I had a phone call from someone who said they found my cat 3 miles from my home. It turned out he got there by riding under the hood of my car. I didn't think of looking under the hood when I started it up to go to work that day.

My girl cat likes to lay on our sheets and towels in the cabinet outside the bathroom. I'll walk by and see the dor is open, so I close it, figuring out boy cat was just curious. Then I hear the door open and the girl cat is right outside the cabinet.

I left a filing cabinet drawer open slightly one day while doing some work in my home office......didn't get back to my work until two days later. Went to open the drawer and out came the cat I had been missing....for two days!

We have a La-Z-Boy double recliner couch that has a pull-out drawer under the center couch seat. He sleeps in the drawer. When you open the drawer he puts his paws over his eyes to shield them from the light - - quite cute!
