This actually happened to me at a big museum in NYC.

Should we return the favor?

No...can't say that I have. Used to play volleyball on Sunday afternoons, and there was a hispanic soccer league that held their games in the same park. There was a little old hispanic lady who sold tacos off a little wheeled cart, and they sure smelled good. But whenever a non-hispanic would buy one...instead of cooking one up on the little grill on top...she would open a little door underneath and get one out from there. The word went around the park pretty soon...don't eat one of those "gringo" tacos.

I can pass for Hispanic, so I've never noticed........
And Bunt, it may be normal, but it doesn't make it right.
I'd also like to point out to the "deportation" crowd, that they aren't always immigrants. They can be natural born citizens too and still favor the company of their own race. It's something we all struggle with, the ability to be comfortable around people not like us. I think we all need to stop the race wars one person at a time. Starting with ourselves.

Never in my life.

If you return to favor, you'd just be stooping down to that person's level. I wouldn't if I were you, but then again when has anyone on Yahoo ever stopped you from thinking the way you do.

Nope but I have had at least a dollar discounted on my shopping just because I wore a low cut top.Though I doubt it had anything to do with my race but more or less to do with the boobies......damn i sometimes sooooooooo love being a girl.hehe

Nope. Not many hispanic run stores here in Wisconsin.

But if they are doing that, it is illegal, and that could get them deported if they are here on papers legally or if they are here illegally. Maybe someone should audit them, huh?

Yes, tried to buy some rice in a bodega once, tried to chare me $5.79 for a bag of rice.

Hell, I could go back home and pick it myself for less.

But they did give me some free chicle. That was nice.

I know of a girl who said her hisband is Mislim and she got discount.
When I go to a Chinese store I notice Chinese people get better service. And why not? They speak Chinese, they are a part of the culture, I am not. It's logical, no big deal. I've noticed the same wit blacks-you won't get the same attention if you're white.
Again, normal.

This never happened to me but my husband is Native American and this HAS happened to him a couple of times here. People thought he was a Mexican because he didn't have his hair braided and he didn't have a feather in. There are MANY people here in this town who hates Mexicans and that's why they did it.

They didn't get away with it but they tried it.
