It doesn't matter who wrote it or who edited because our focus should be on who inspired it which is God.

ONE MAN was given the job by the Emperor Constantine after the Council of Nicea; when the Books of the Bible were decided upon. It was left to this one man whether or not the Old Testament would be left in or not and in what order the New books would be added, (I watch the Discovery Channel) but I'll be danged if I can remember his name. Anyways, he made was was called The Constantine Bible, 150 copies of them for the churches of the world at that time. While Constantine DID NOT decide what went into the bible, he was important in that the world recognized Christianity legitimately.
Sorry, I still can not remember that mans name. ://

The base source was written and edited under the auspices of Constantine of Turkey in 3 AD
The basic Protestant version was edited a second time under the direction of King James of England.
The original source edition was edited by the Greeks.
The primary edition of the Old Testament was edited by the Pharasees
The Bible you are generally reading is a Modified version or the Catholic Bible based on the Jewis Pharasees and Greek Interpreters, re-written by scribes of King James.

Men of old under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit wrote the Bible,,, in Hebrew and Greek... then as those languagues became obsolete, it was translated in to German and English and other languages. When those translations were made, committee were set up to review the translations and approve or disapprove them until they were satisfactory. There are a few versions today that were paraphrased instead of translated. They are not good for study purposes but they are good for devotional reading so that you can more clearly understand the Bible in today's language.

Which version? Orignial English translation was by William Tynsdale. He got burned at the stake for his trouble. The KJV, was translated under the direction of James, King of England, Nephew of Elizabeth 1, rabid protestant, and part time queer.(All right, full time, but we are not suppossed to talk about it.)
In the last thirty years there have been translations for just about every purpose..teens, dyslexics, etc.
What is far more interesting are the books of the Apocrapha. Those that were kept out of the Canon by the Council of Nicea in 325. But I digress.

The Jews were the ones that originally translated the Bible, they were the keepers of all the books.

The bible was compiled at the council of Nicea under the patronage of the pagan emperor Constantine 300 years after Jesus' death. Hundreds of writings were considered, but most were destroyed after the council voted to portray Jesus as divine, and the writings portrayed him as mortal.

from the beginning it was a finished work in the mind of God ,,and God saw that the devil would try to get men to change it but God promised we would have his word and it cannot be changed...SO...in 2 Peter 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
Mind you Peter just got through saying something very important about the word whixh he refers to as prophecy
He said...For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
Now you might say in our time today that ..how can we be eyewitnesses today?..It is because of the Holy Ghost which is the spirit of God ..the comforter..who by the way teaches us the word because...Peter also said..in the 20th verse Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation..
Which somply means that as Christians WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO GIVE OUR OWN INTERPRETATIONS OR OPINIONS about the word of God ...so understand that it is the Holy Ghost who teaches us the truth of the word...it is only the Holy Ghost that can...and he will not allow us to use the wrong bible.
So ..God is the author..he used men to write it ..but the content is His...If you'd like to see this in action go to the book of Jeremiah 36 th chapter...you'll read a passage about Jeremiah getting instruction from God which basically told him to write what god is going to tell him.
So Jeremiah does what God told him..mind you he didn't write it but he had a scribe by the name of Baruch to write what Jeremiah was Prophesying from God...
You see this is how God was able to use men...because they were Holy men of God and they wrote as God instructed them...
Now as far as editing ..like translating from greek to english and hebrew to english...happened earlier in history..mind you as I said that God had purposed this word from the beginning and God also saw the end of ALL things and He knows that men could not take away or add to it to change it's meaning....I can give you several verses showing this 2 in particular
Jeremiah 33:20.Thus saith the Lord; If ye can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, and that there should not be day and night in their season;
21. Then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne;
Second is in Matthew 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
These 2 (actually 3 only because the first needs to show the following verse too) Both show that God was extreme when it came to his word. He said if you can change night and day...why is there night and day? because men haven't changed Gods word...or why does everything still exist anyway?...because men cannot change Gods word...If men could everything would cease to exist..
You see God promised us his word and He went through extremes to insure it...God is the author men cannot edit ..as to take away or add to it..only translate it into modern language ..and still nothing is lost...God bless
