A christian with closed mind and lack of understanding would have to "undo" his thinking about God and start "OVER",an athiest could just start over.

AhaI,athiest believe and some christians believe they "know" resulting in close mindedness, which blocks further spiritual growth.I only claim both have formed opionions without full awareness or knowing GOD.

asafam23,a christed being ,as jesus, only removes past "sins" one must undertake arduous spiritual practices, striving always to live in spirit and truth with the vision of GOD ever before you.. Both christian and athiest just need to realize they are children of GOD. GOD believes both are his "PERFECT SONS"

You have a very valid point. Many of us Christians have a mindset that is so closed to anything other than what we have been taught to believe by our church.
An atheist as you state would not have to undo his thinking. If he accepted the Bible as true he would have a better understanding of it than a lot of us.
The truths are in the Bible, but too many of us refuse to study it.

You know, sometimes I wonder myself. But, I don't think it's so much a problem of close mindedness. I think it's more that they are so grounded in their faith that they may loose sight of what is important. In these times, so called Christians shouldn't be turning people from God but to God. God is love and nothing more. I just want love from somewhere. I have had enough of hate. The world is so full of hate that it just makes me ill. I don't want to be ill anymore. There is more than this. I just refuse to believe there is nothing more. I don't think that something that is supposed to promote love and kindness and caring should get bashed as much as it does. And if it's not really hurting anyone than what's the real problem. I don't think that I lack understanding. I don't even think that I am unreasonable. I just don't buy into that there is no creator and that there is nothing after this craphole of a life. I just don't think that that is possible. Does that make me wrong? At this point I just don't really care.

the reason you not in any respect or seldom listen arguments regarding Islam is because most of the time the atheists in this board are chatting with Christians. Regardless, the definition of atheist has no longer some thing to do with any certain faith. for instance someone who believes in a Hindu God yet no longer a Christian does no longer be an atheist. the different area of bear in mind is that there is a distinction between position self belief in God vs faith.

Interesting point. I think that there are some Atheists who stand a better chance of going to Heaven than I do (although I think that they will be happily embarrassed). If a person just doesn't believe in God (not rejects God, but doesn't believe because of a lack of proof), but still lives what is commonly called a good "Christian" life, then I think that person stands a chance.

A Christian is righteous due to the fact that God's Son died for them. Jesus's blood makes them holy in the eyes of God.
An atheist doesn't have this holy standing with God...so they would be "further" from God. They still have to become holy, the Christian would just have to realize their identity.

Unbelieving sinners are no where near God because they don't believe and they reject him daily which shows lack of personal relationship and faithfulness where as Christians do believe and have an relationship with God therefore unbelieving sinners are in denial and your claim is false.

The problem is the mind of the Christian is always open to God. Unfortunately the mind of atheist is closed to God.
The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. -2 Corinthians 4:4

Whistle Britches,
what your saying, it seems built up out of frustration or anger, but not of logic. Though I suppose that some Atheists would do better with learning about God without the trapping of traditional thought concerning sin, without that step of faith, they are lost and without hope to know the truth. IMO.
