Actually, the prayers contained in the Rosary all come from the Bible.

Putting them together in the form of the Rosary is part of the Catholic Church's tradition. By putting the prayers together in the way the Rosary was constructed a person can use the Rosary Beads as device to keep track of where they are in the Rosary prayer--no more, no less.

As we pray the Rosary we contemplate on meditate on the Mysteries of our faith. Hopefully, by such contemplation someday we'll be closer to understanding them. In the meantime the peace that praying the Rosary brings to our souls will hopefully make us better Christians.

Other issues: David G said that it wasn't in the "Christian" Bible. By that I'm assuming that you meant the "Protestant" version of the Bible or the King James version. Examine the history of your church, einstein---where exactly did the Protestant Church come from? (Hint: google Martin Luther) Also--where in the world do you get it that the Rosary came from the Muslims?

The prayers of the Rosary can pretty much be found in the Bible. There's the Our Father prayer...you can surely find that one and then the Hail Mary is from the Angelic Salutation to Mary (see Luke 1 : 28) and then ( Luke 1:42).
The Glory Be to the Father is a prayer to the Holy Trinity, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost....any Christian knows this. Then Rosary is a meditation on the life of Christ. Seems like a good thing to me. Many protestants actually say the rosary. It's not just a Catholic thing. If you want to meditate on something, this is the best thing to do your meditation on. The Mother of Jesus appeared to St. Dominic and gave him the Rosary. It is the strongest prayer against Satan. As we see in the Apocalypse, Mary, The Woman Clothed With the Sun shall crush the head of the serpent (Satan).

Actually, it is derived from the Bible. And about repetitive prayers...it says not to pray in VAIN Repetition. There is nothing vain about the Rosary. The Rosary is the Prayer of the Gospels. And the Prayers of the Rosary come out of the Gospels.

It is correct in that about 900 years ago or so loose stones were used as a way of counting or marking the prayers and decades of prayers in early versions. Eventually beads were used and strung together so they could easily be reused. And yes, it is quite similar to the Muslim dhikr.

The prayers of the dhikr are generally a recitation of three phrases, each said 33 times (once for each bead): "Glory to God," "Thanks be to God" and "God is great," spoken in Arabic. This is followed with "There is no deity but the one and only God."

The Rosary is a CONTEMPLATIVE prayer. As you pray the prayers you focus in your mind the "mysteries", or events of the life of Jesus Christ. Yes, the Rosary is "Christ Centered".

The Rosary is repetitive but it is absolutely not vain repetition. To pray the Rosary one is drawn closer to Jesus through his mother. It is the Prayer of the Gospels and to pray it every day and to contemplate and be focused on Christ everyday will guarantee to keep you where you should be. And it is from the Bible, of the Bible, and about Jesus Christ and the Bible. The prayers of the Rosary are either directly out of the Bible or derived from Bible verses.
