I know how they operate, etc but am wondering if anyone here has much personal experience with them. If so what is your opinion of them? Do you use it for business, pleasure or both? How does it compare to other planes you have or have had in the past? Would you recommend a person purchasing a new one? I have a friend looking into sales for them so have learned quite a bit about them but as I, he has many questions. ..All input appreciated! Thanks!

i apologize for not making myself more clear. I know about the past use of diesel and what all is being done research wise, the advantages, etc. I'll try to just get to the point:) ...From a personal or company's viewpoint is it a plane that will be selling well? Would you trade the plane you presently have for one? How strongly do you feel the need/want will be for the ones being produced.

Look up Thierlert Diesel and Diamond aircraft.

1. better miles per gallon.
2. single lever operation.
3. Cheaper fuel.
4. No carb ice.
5. Turbo charged as standard.
6. Can't think of a sixth at the moment.

If someone made a pressurized twin Diesel to carry 8 pax I would buy it. if the cost about 35-50% less than a turbo-twin. For short hauls this would be an ideal plane.

With the millage considerations. Also look at your idle time. At big airports we spend a ton of time idling and turbines drink gas at idle compared to diesel when waiting for a runway.

For personal flight you would be hard pressed to justify the cost when compared to how many hours people usually fly. Gas isn't always the bigest cost.

My $.02

One advantage is that Avegas is not common in the Northern Latitudes. Once you get in the Arctic regions if your using Avegas you better supply your own. Whereas Diesel/Jet fuel is plentiful.
FYI: The Germans had a 4 engine Diesel bomber, but you probably already knew that
