The tallest dog I have ever seen was a Great Dane, at a grooming shop I worked at.
The heaviest dog I have ever seen is my friend's Neopolitan Mastiff.

Tallest - Great Dane, owned by the owner of the pet store I used to work at. He could stand with all four feet on the ground and put his head flat on the cash register counter and reach the far side of it.
Most Impressive - Fila Brasileiro, an underweight (!) male who was well over 100 pounds, with a head the size of a basketball. He was a Rescue that I picked up at the vet's office to drive to the rescue group. With his tail touching the tailgate of my Jeep Wrangler, he could stick his head between the front seats and be on a level with mine. People were slowing down to pace us on the expressway to figure out what the heck it was standing in the back of the Jeep.

We had an Akita/Great Dane mix that topped 180 lbs, soild black and a sweetheart!
I believe the biggest purebread that I have ever seen is an Irish Wolfhound at dog shows.

i I had the largest dog of all breeds. The Irish Wolfhound. ..I also raised Great Danes. If you are talking bulk and weight . The Newfoundland The Great Pyrenees . the mastiff. and the st Bernard. My wolfhouse was taller than anyone when she stood up on her rear legs. up to 6/2

The biggest dog I ever saw was a huge harlequin great dane. I cant remember it's name, although I think the owner said it was Tiny. How original. i saw it when I was playing with my dog at the local dog park. And them the great dane stood up on it's hind legs and it was seven feet tall!!! wow.

Great Dane at my friends farm. I hate going over because the dog puts his front paws on my shoulders and then his head is above mine. But I'm only 5' 7"

Saw a 170 pound Rottie once. Gentle as a kitten too. He was a St. John's Therapy dog in a nursing home.

I have seen sevral big dogs in my life and the latest one was a Great Dane and I seen her at foster parent's house. She was their dog and boy was she big! Before that I had a the four big dogs while at my moms. Great Pyrness, Saint Benard, Newfoundland and Mountain Bernise.....my mom likes big dogs.....though not great danes!

Last week I was at the vet and I saw a Great Dane and he was HUGE! He stood up to my chest and I'm 5'2". His head was the size of a basketball. He was really very beautiful just very big.
