I am not Christian and my son is a tattoo artist so I may be a bit biased.
I feel if it has a spiritual meaning for you and it is done in a respectful manner in a respectful place on your body, I don't know why it would be a problem. Some may tell you to treat your body like a temple..I think it can be. My son has Mother Mary and Jesus the Christ tattooed on his body and they are beautiful. When I asked him why he did it, he said they were symbols of his faith.

I am a Christian and I have a tattoo, and I'm planning on getting more. Since I've gotten my tattoo my life has not gone into a downward spiral or anything like that. The body is a temple and if you are getting a beautiful piece of spiritual artwork put on it, then I think that would be fine. Make yourself feel good about yourself. I mean, how many Christians have piercings? Same thing.

It's a personal thing. My religion has come out and said directly that tattoos, body piercing-other then one in each ear in females, body modification or anything that damages the skin isn't something we should do. Our bodies were made by God. They are considered temples. To me that means that we should keep it as clean and unmarked as we can.
I do have pierced ears, and there was a time, before my leaders adviced us otherwise, that I had more then one earring in an ear. Once I heard that they had adviced against it, I took out all but one pair.
I wanted to get a tattoo once, a fairy on my shoulder to remind me of my beauty within, but I decided that I couldn't deal with the pain. Now I'm glad I didn't get it. It's hard to have to tell your kids they can't do something when you have already done it.
It really is up to you and what you believe about it. Everyone can say yes or no, but it is ultimatly only your decision.

I have asked the same question and gotten a yes and a no. I think that your intent and the meaning to you should make you stop and think. Would it be like a symbol? If that's the case the Hebrews worshipped a symbol and were punished. BUT I know that slaves used to wear a gold earring to show they had a master. I have a guy friend who wears one to symbolize he is a slave to Christ. Pray about it and let God direct you. I don't think there is anything in the Bible that says you can't.

There is scriptural prohibition for it.
Leviticus 19:28 says; Do not lacerate your bodies for the dead, and do not tattoo yourselves. I am the Lord.
That should clear up the tattooing question...at least scripturally. And there is always the position most Christians take that our bodies are to be as temples to the Lord. Should we damage them or scar them up if He dwells in us?

I don't know where it is, but the bible does say somewhere that we shouldn't cut, mark or pierce our bodies.
But I'm a Christian & I have pierced ears & a tatoo. All of which I did before I was saved. So I believe that since I am now saved by the grace of God, by the shedding of Jesus's blood on the Cross,
then I am forgiven.
However you are wanting to put a marking on your body that shows your love of God, so I think you need to pray about it & listen to what God tells you.

I don't think anyone is going to hell for getting a tattoo. I hope not since I'm a christian and have a rose tattoo on my left ankle and I'm going to be getting more. I also don't believe it matters what the tattoo is either. I'm getting one of Jack Skellington soon :)

When you weigh a tattoo against all the forbidden things (10 Commandments) you could do then i think a tattoo is very minor.

Jewish belief is that tattoo's will prevent someone from going to Heaven.
However, to the best of my knowlege there is NO scriptual reason that says you can't do it.
If its pretty, I'd do it- God reads a persons heart and intent
Personally? I'd avoid the tattoo- they're permanent, ya know?

Ask GOD for an anwser. I believe he will send you a personal answer in time. That should really be between you and GOD, and the answer may come by way of other people, or it may come from some other situation or occasion.
