Some people are abusive and sometime we try our hardest to remain with them to help them and try to protect them, but it doesn't have to be that way. Love shouldn't hurt. Love should bless you and make you feel good. I for too many years was in an abusive relationship. You just begin to think this is the way it is. Well, I am here to tell you I got out of that toxic relationship. Many couples are co-dependent, I encourage you to read books about co-dependency. After reading these books, I came to realize I was co-dependent on my ex and that there was something better out there for my life. I encourage you to discover, love doesn't have to hurt.

its a simple question which has a logic. i have seen many cases of "love hurt" syndrome.
what happens is when you love a person very much, you tend to think of him/her deeply, so much so that you lose contact with planet earth and you are in a different world i.e your own world which consists of you and your lover. so as a result of that deep thought, you have no clue where you're going or walking and tend to stumble down or fall somwhere and as a result you are in pain. therefore, love hurts. :)
